Did anybody do a fuel door or fuel cap mod on their 2009 dc tacoma? Just wondering if someone in tw installed any locks in either. Heard some people steal fuel in unlocked fuel doors.

Theres not really anyway to steal fuel through the gas cap anymore. Go get a hose and see if you can stick it all the way down... You can't.
They design them to be theft proof. The pipe that funnels gas to the tank gets really small, small enough that a hose can't get through.
    So no worries... :)

I couldn't give 2 sh*t's about people stealing gas. I am worried about some jelous creep pouring sugar in the gas tank. I suggested to corporate that Toyota design a locking gas cap or a locking gas door but it seems nothing new for 2010.

What about a rig on the back of the fuel door to hold the gas cap while you fuel up?

I can't believe they don't have this...... Every other vehicle I own has this, including our 04 4Runner.......

Anyone know of something we can add for this. I hate having my gas cap lay on the paint......

Sounds like you'd have to fabricate something yourself. Denny inspired me to mail corporate as well on this issue.

There was holders on ebay about a year ago, but they looked generic, and for $15 I wasn't going to take a chance.

all i do is put the tether for the cap through the holder for the door (the two pieces of metal that pinch to hold the door closed). keeps it off the paint and no need to fab anything

I called my dealer about the Stant locking gas cap for my 09 taco. The parts manager called corporate and then he called me back. He advised me not to get the Stant because there are still "Check Engine" issues with them. If that happened, the dealer would bill me to reset the computer.

most people i've heard of w/ working locking caps have the stant. even if it threw a code, remove the + terminal, let it sit, reconnect and the code is gone. dealers are all full of shit for the mos part. mine tried to tell me that i wasnt allowed the rear tsb b/c i put on an AAL and that weakened the suspension....cmon

I told the parts guy about removing the battery terminal to reset the computer and he gave me that bullsh*t about how it will take weeks for the computer to relearn my driving habits. I bought the Stant for my 09 taco that I traded in and the Check Engine Ligjht came on. I took it to the dealer with the stock cap and they thought that something just screwed up and they did not charge me.
