You could keep your 5100 s and use OME or eibach springs to get lift with no preload too

Mother fucker.... The battery on the bike is dead... Like REALLY dead. Every time I got it idling at 1300-1500rpm, I would unplug the jumper cables and after getting the seat back on it and my helmet on, the fucker would stall!

Son of a bitch is taunting me

Once it's running, what does the battery operate? I've killed mine before but it'll stay running once jumped.

I really hope you're not frustrated already... that bike is going to need a lot more TLC and the further you get into it, the more you'll find that will need to be replaced. Welcome to owning an older motorcycle

It'll drop in RPM and then just cut out, but it'll run without an issue with the jumpers on it.

I'm not frustrated, but I just wanted to cruise around a bit today. I only got about 3 feet before the fucker cut out on me.

I brought the battery home and I'm gonna trickle charge it tonight. It starts easy, it'll run no problem without the choke. It's just the battery I think

You better fucking wear a helmet and don't drive like an asshole. You have no idea how many motorcycle accidents we have every summer, people either a. Die, or b. eat their food through a straw and shit into a bag for the rest of their lives. A lot of them fuck up their passengers too, and think it could never happen to them... Be careful. The last thing I want to read is that Sara has to watch the teletubbies with you, chew your food for you, and aim your crank at the toilet for you...

Sounds good. If the 5100's are only slightly stiffer than the OME's, I can deal with that. It's too bad the OME's come in yellow...

I'd go OME, the Eibachs would ride like a haywagon with the preload. Ask John about it, he had preloaded Eibachs before his current setup.

Is the bike charging the battery once it's running?

I'd actually like to grab a set of the baja coil overs... But I would lose height, unless I used a toytec 1/2" spacer, which would be fine...

I got a HJC CS-R1 and I feel like those who ride without gear are morons.

My bike kept stalling from the time it took for me to remove the jumper cables, put the seat back on, and strap my helmet on, it would stall.

I'm not gonna hop on the highway or main roads for a while. I was gonna just ride around the culdesac at my moms house

A little but not much. They charge better at a higher RPM anyway

When I unplugged the jumper cables, the neutral and kickstand lights would dim and flicker, then it cut out

I was just wondering if it was the bike's charging system and not the battery. If it's charging a little at idle, then that points to the battery.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
What he said. My brother is lucky he's not dead because of motorcycles. I don't care what comes out of your mouth or what you think, you WILL dump that bike. Probably won't even be your fault, but it WILL happen. You drive defensive with your head on a swivel, and you wear as much armor and protection you can.

ALSO- Keep your girl off the bike for the rest of this year. You'll have your hands full keeping yourself from dumping it, adding another body on the bike changes everything about how it handles.

She's not getting on the bike ever. She doesn't like it and I don't need her leaning in the wrong direction or anything stupid. My bike.

She can get one of the can-am spyders if she wants haha

Battery might just be total crap. I had a car that would do the same thing even though the alternator was fine, take the cables off and it would cut out every time. One cell was just so bad in the battery that it threw the whole thing off..I threw in a new battery and no more issues.

In my case I removed the battery and jumped the car with cables. Took the cables off and the car ran fine. Not necessarily the best way especially with the computer stuff in cars now but it got me my answer.

I wonder if there is an easy way to tap the slip joint. I might have to take off the rear DS and take it to a machine shop and have them do it, can't cost more than 40-50 bucks. Getting under there and taking it apart is a complete pain in the dink.

This is the issue. The battery could be so bad as to cause an issue with the charge system but the battery is just a storage devise for the POWER
