    The point is that the current system is flawed beyond the point of being fixable. By having such lenient gun control laws many years ago, it is now impossible to get the guns off the streets. As stated, gun control laws are only respected by law abiding citizens. I get that.

    The only way to solve the problem long term is to clean up the streets, and by now, it's far too late to do that.

    But the short term solution should NOT be to introduce more guns into the streets, regardless of how much "training" people undergo.

    As for my child (which I do not have, but I'll answer anyways), I would prefer the system have worked in the first place and just avoid the entire situation. The issue is not that we need armed teachers in the schools to defend against the attackers. The issue is WHY are there attackers shooting up schools in the first place?
