need help with purchasing the right rims for my taco

I just have purchased a 1996 toyota tacoma 4wd. I have been looking at a set of 15x8 black matted rims. They are 6 lug and it says 15x8 with 5x4.5 bolt pattern will these fit my truck?

 

nope... 5x4.5 is 5 lug...

u need 6x5.5 bolt pattern

Yea and you need 6x5.5 bolt pattern.... Toyota, chevy, and nissan mostly...

15x8 would be cheaper than 16x8 and the tires would be a little cheaper in 15 inch than 16 inch...

 

i found some black rock series 997 type 8 steel wheel 15x8 with 6x5.5 br -13 offset and 4" rear spacing

 

search "soft 8" in the more established tacoma sites n u may steer clear of these wheels... the stamped out dies of the holes stick out the back just enough to knick the brake fluid veins on the front calipers...

i have a 3 inch lift on my truck.. i have the 16" pro comp 7089 black wheels with some bf goodrich ko 265/75r16 and it's perfectly fine... you can run some 285/75 tires but you will have some rubbing and will need to do some trimming. I didn't wanna mess with any trimming and wanted better gas mileage so i went with the 265s. Just throwing it out there in case u like those wheels.

 

Is that true for the 2nd gens or just the 1st gens? Or did you mean 2nd gens? I have an '07 and I'm looking at the 997s (4.5" backspacing, -12mm offset, and 6x5.5 bolt circle). Thanks!

 

I believe i have heard that it's the same issue with the Gen2 trucks as well...

it's primarily to do with the brake vein on the caliper that does not clear...

someone here on TW with a Gen2 once got a set within the last year or so and they actually cleared the caliper face...

for the life of me i can't remember who that was though...

another wheel option to consider is the Eagle Alloy Series 100...

i run those on my truck now... a lot lighter than steel wheels but still pretty strong...

 

Unfortunately, I don't care much for the looks of the Eagle Series 100 . I like the looks of the soft 8s, specifically BlackRock 997s... And the price was decent too. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find out more about that problem with the caliper vein. Thanks anyway!

 

Well, I have a '97 and I love the ones I got from America's Tire. $110/each so they're not horribly expensive. 265/75R16. Not exactly 33's but maybe they have a size that fit.

 

One other thing. Be careful about buying a used set that claims to fit Toyota, Chevy, etc. Even though the bolt pattern works, the center hole might be too small to fit over the front 4WD hub of a Toyota.

Measure twice, buy once

 

Go to Tire Rack put your vehicle in and it will come back with each that fit

 

I want some TRD's, the ones with the bronze center.

 

These are all over e-bay, but the price varries. Makes me wonder if all of them are genuine Toyota or ???
