stupid question? what about the air bag sensors?,

 

So as for inspections, you can actually remove the whole assembly in about 15 minutes.. so that is no biggie. I did not actually notice true torque values with the instructions, but I guestimated based on the fact that they are HEAVY DUTY bolts and nuts with lock washers. I put them on with the intent that they will stay there.

About the airbag sensors.. the way air bag sensors work is that 2 have to be triggered to actually deploy an airbag. If you hit something in the front hard enough to warrant the airbag deployment, my guess is that the brush guard will not be enough protection to stop them. I believe the air bag sensors are actually located more in the upper part of the grill area.

On the 2011, still no illuminated 4x4 switch. I believe the only two things that changed are actually the cup holders (now rubber, and easily removable) and the front grille (now 'hexagonal' mesh pattern instead of horizontal slats).

 

Yup.. used a breaker bar... and while laying on a creeper, had to put my feet on the tires to apply enough force to break them loose. They were on there for realz...

yeah mine shakes a lot. like ridiculously a lot... im starting to hate this. but im gonna rebolt and torque em like no tomorrow and see the results. will poist pics up... soon. maybe a vid of it shaking.

 

So did you re-tightened it after a couple of days?

 

i did but only hand tighten, im gonna go to my uncles shop and use his heavy duty air gun to tighten the shiizznit out of it.... hopefully that helps. but then again the way its made the vibrations can start small from the bolt mounts but by the time it reaches the end light guards a lil shakin is inevitable... doppler effect....? but it shakes sometimes.. for the most part i am satisfied with it, and a note my wife hits sumthing made a dent on it and the truck i s still ok... so i guess it payed for itself already....

 

I have been looking at the Go Rhino Extreme Guard for that very reason. It is not as aggressive looking at the Westin but it is more sexy looking for the truck. At least I will never have to chance an inspector telling me to remove the enitire guard because it is blocking the headlights! AND it boost integrated halogen lights that I can wire into a empty switch opening inside the cab!

 

It looks pretty nice. I opted for the Westin Sportsman Winch Mount Grille Guard. I need to figure out what kind of a winch to get next.

 

Mine doesnt move its move of it just vibrates a tiny bit over bumps

 

Can you keep the "grey" skid plate on with this?

 

I like it, but does it fit with the oem accessory skid plate?

 

i don't think so. from what ive gathered on this, if you have the TRD add on skidplate, you will need to take it off. but, if you have the standard stock skidplate, this will fit without removing it.

 

I had to get a small amount of my front skid plate cut out so the bracket arm would fit.

 

okay, so it looks like you have the optional TRD skid? have any more pics of the cut area? ive got the stock skid but it might help out someone in the future

 

Looks great! I am going to be ordering this exact unit for my '13 TRD O/R. I really like your way of mounting the front plate, I was trying to figure out how I was going to mount mine.
Also, about choosing a winch. Don't assume that you need a big winch. While one that is rated for the curb weight of the truck is the normal method of choosing, a 4,000 lb winch will only be needed if you plan on lifting your 4,000 lb truck off the ground. At any given time, in any situation, you will only need to apply around 2/3 of the vehicle's weight worth of force to move the vehicle (a 4,000 lb truck only requires 2,700 lb of force). I used to work as a tow truck operator and I am currently a recovery specialist for the WI Army National Guard. The majority of jeeps on the road with giant 9,000 lb winches are doing nothing but adding extra weight to the front end. Keep in mind that everything you hang off the front has an affect on handling, braking, and wear-and-tear(ball joints!!!)
