Are both trucks comparible in price? If so, then why spend the extra money just to bring the sport up to off road standards? Correct me if I am wrong, but that doesn't make sense. I am sure others know more, though.

No way to make that happen. Low pressure zone. It'll force air out if you try to make it functional.

I went with the Sport, though like you I'm in Canada and they won't let us poor northern folk have a 4 door, short box Off Road like our southern neighbours are allowed to have. Apparently, we're not good enough to get a locker with a 4 door.

Now, that being said, I love the way the Sport rides with the Bilsteins (if I have to hear one more sales guy call them "Blissteens", I'm going to go postal), prefer the look of the scoop, and like the colour matched grill surround/mirrors. It also has the Auto LSD feature, which sounds like it will be more than enough for your off-road travels.

I don't like the fact that I can't get factory satellite radio, or that the mirror is located in a terrible spot, or that the power windows only come with an auto down on the driver window, and not auto up/down like my 14 year old 4Runner has ON BOTH FRONT WINDOWS!

    Are you listening, Toyota?

You should be happy with the SR5............the inverter IMHO is a gimmick
The skewp is a blind spot, and also can throw the suns reflection into the drivers eyes, and its been tried many many many times to make it functional, and its just in a low pressure zone.

The scoop would probably be better off designed as a cowl and even then, used to exhaust engine bay temps.

There's definitely a lot of things the bed plug cannot drive. Plenty of things it can though.

Things I have used so far with the bed plug in my 1 month of ownership:

    • 120V compressor (quieter, faster than cig lighter compressors)
    • Small shop vac
    • Chargers for batteries, phones, hand radios
    • Table band saw
I also need to try my drill. I have a 5.5 amp corded drill, which exceeds the power of the bed plug but I bet for light use it would be fine.

    :D

I've got the 130 amp alternator thanks to the towing package, so as long as the truck is running I should be golden. The inverter probably draws around 30-40A peak, depending on efficiency.

Or do you mean I'll burn it out faster? To my knowledge, water is the main thing that kills alternators...

Off-Road as the bed decals give it more power and 3 mpg more than a Sport :bseg:
