yeah, pretty much everything smitty comes from china, or has parts from china. not to say it's bad stuff by any means though.

our company policy says that we have to buy all of the rigging for out cranes from companies that produce in the US. when we buy shackles (of any size) we go to a company called Crosby. 100% US steel and production.

I bought a receiver and shackle off Amazon and the damn thing will only slide half way in. The corners are slightly too large and are squared not rounded. Frustrating.

What kind of bumper are you getting?

Try grinding those corners a bit. Once you get it grounded enough throw some fresh paint on it. Should work out well.

As for the bumper I ordered a Bruteforce Hybrid. Should be shipped in the middle of August if things go as planned.

I might still have mine over at my parents house. It will be a little while before I am over there to check though.

I work for Kiewit. Odds are if you haven't worked in the field of heavy/industrial construction/engineering, you haven't heard of the company.

    Colin,

How long is the Kansas contract? Do we need to plan on getting lunch in April when we stroll through on the way to Colorado?

Kansas is one of our offices, not a job, so no contact here. The Maryland project I'm trying to get on starts in May/June, so if I can keep myself here that long (that's the goal), I'll just drive the desert of the way out there and hit up black bear pass and/or Moab.

lol, I took the job of riding around in our salvage yard looking for hard to find parts for out salesmen to the next level :D convinced the manager to get me a netbook a while back, got a long range wifi antenna, hooked it all up to a 120watt power inverter (which also runs a drill battery charger), and this being the 4th vehicle I've been in (the AC stops working or the vehicle just stops running...) I'm getting pretty good at whipping up a laptop stand out of 2X4's :p I've been in this Kia for about 3 weeks now and I've got it fully set up now; laptop, GPS, CB, tool rack (made from 2X4 and pegboard), since the photos I've mounted a permanent external battery hookup for easy jump starts, and since I've been through our first aid and CPR training here I took it upon myself to put about 3 first aid kits and 2 fire extinguishers in there too since there's about 10 other guys that ride around in our yard at any given time, none of which I know carry anything of the sort, and I've had to dig into the first aid kits many times already...

it's a blast though, I love my job
