What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I did a poor mans power bleed of my clutch. Use a tube on the bleeder fitting and run it to a empty beer bottle half full of brake fluid. Break the bleeder fitting free and pump the pedal. It doesn't allow air in the line while pumping the system. I have always got better pedal pressure doing this on both brakes and clutch and you can do it yourself.

 

Well it wouldn't b an empty beer bottle if its half full of brake fluid

 

I want another pair for my "going out" set lmao I use these to mope around the shop and work haha.

Speaking of.. Started my tube doors today, decided to integrate one of my 6lz I had laying around in it for the somewhat same affect of Monte's 6lz in the mirror idea.. Should work out pretty well!

My advice if you go with Moog...compare the two before you install them. The one's I were given, one was made in America and one was made in Japan. The American one looked like complete crap and the Japan one looked like it would actually hold up. I wish I took a picture.

I didn't want to put two parts in that were so completely different so went with OEM ones. Turns out they were actually cheaper through the dealer too.

Changed my spark plugs. What an absolute pain in the ass on the 2.7.

 

Really?? You were doing something wrong. Takes me 15 minutes on my 2.7.

 

Thats because you have the older 2.7 with the distributor correct? Mine has coil packs and a plastic plenum thing that goes right over the middle 2 cylinders. It is a mega bitch unbolting that thing.

 

Found a deck that matches my gauges nearly perfect (pics don't do the match justice, in person you can hardly tell a difference).

 

I have a 2002 2.7L and really it's not that bad. You only have to take a little of the air intake off, unbolt 4 coil packs, then change 4 plugs.

 

The plastic plenum that goes into the throttle body is what im referring to. The two nuts you have to undo are in an extremely tough spot. You cant get to the two middle coil packs unless you unbolt it. And those bolts are a bitch to get to. Not only that but trying to hand start those nuts blind and with your hand crooked as shit is no fun.

 

Today I ordered pro comp 7069s and duratracs, 265/75r16. Also received a pair of hella 500ffs I ordered. I finally finished my satoshi, which will be installed tomorrow along with the hella's (hopefully). I'll put up pictures once I get it done.

I also have a lot of other jobs lined up for the next few days. Oil change, front brake pads, spark plugs, check all the fluids, etc etc. Oh and not to mention, installing my 5100s/eibachs/dakars lift! Its looking like sunday will be the big day, can't wait!

 

Put another coat of paint on my grill. Come out slightly better, but the wind still blew dirt onto it. Probably just going to say screw it and clear coat it anyways. Looks good from a distance. No chrome showing anymore at least haha

No. Too hard to find alone. I used google images and pulled them up on a page with some taco eyelids for sale. Woke up early just to bid on them.

 

The weight is there to balance the drum, it doesn't matter how or where it goes back on. It's like a balanced rim/tire.

 

Getting those two nuts holding the air tube on sucks...especially with a hot manifold...
