Your better off getting too much truck than not enough truck in my opinion.

I have an access cab. I like the look of an access cab but wish I had the cab space of a double cab. :(

    EDIT:

I see you have created two threads haha. Messed with my head for a second...

The first Tacoma I bought was a 11' DCLB Sport. I loved it. It was a great truck. I found that living in a big city and with everything being made for smaller vehicles, it was hard to use around town. I liked the amount of room in the DC but I found that it was more truck than what I needed. I had always wanted an Access Cab, I figured that was just enough truck that I needed. So 14 Months after owning the DCLB, I traded in and got an 13' Access Cab TRD OR. I didn't fall in love with my Access Cab like I did the Sport at first. It took a few months. But either way, it's a Tacoma, what's not to love.

Still looking to purchase first Tacoma. Thought about access cab, then changed to a double cab search. More room is the reason why.

Although there is no comparison between the competitions access cabs and the Tacoma's. The Tacoma's access cab is about as roomy as their double cab.:)

It's all in how you use the space wisely.

While we're on the subject...has anyone driven both the access & double cabs? If so, is one quieter than the other (highway use), the same, both noisy, or both quiet?

    Thanks!

dc. 100%. it's no fun having to apologize to the gaggle of ladies in the back seat when they're whining about their knees being crushed. plus, with a full size back seat, there's way more room for fun time. :taco:

I found that with the Access Cab that there is more wind noise on the highway compared to the double cab. The suspension on a Sport is softer compared to the TRD suspension(stiffer). The Access Cab is more manuvable in tight spaces compared to the DC(parking garages for example).

Who needs the backseats? It's called the bed of the truck.

I bought a new AC in '10. I did like the extra bed room compared to the short bed. The bad thing was trying to fit a grown-up on the flip down shelf for a seat in the back. It may be OK for a kid, but not a grown man. Also on long trips there isn't enough room in the back of the AC cab for luggage.

So, this year I traded in the '10 AC for a '13 DCSB. I did test drive the DCLB but the overall length was almost to big for my garage. I wouldn't have been able to put the Avid light bar on the front and have my tow ball on the rear and close the garage door.

    The DCSB works for me.

I like my Access Cab. but i would trade for an equivalent DCSB in a heart beat.

I don't do anything that requires a long bed, and i like having extra room in the cab. With that said. I rarley drive more than 1 passenger so its not a big issue. But would still rather have a DCSB...

    i have an access cab.

my next will be a double cab truck in some make or model. just having the ability to put a couple of extra hunters in the truck is huge.

you can argue, that as the driver, "at least you have a seat"..but having a person behind you is no picnic. it ruins your comfort as well.

double cab. the turning radius of a DCLB is significant tho. and i do love sleeping in the back of my truck on hunting trips :)

AC all the way for me. I use my long bed for hauling stuff for DIY home projects and the back seat doesn't matter 95% of the time as it's normally just me or me+1 in the cab. The #1 reason I bought a truck was for the bed.

If you regularly drive w/ 3+ adults then you may want to opt for the DCSB for passenger comfort... I wouldn't want to sit in the back of an AC for more than 30min.

    OP,

DC all day! I had an Access cab before and my buddy has one now... No room back there and I like to be able to open the rear doors without opening the front doors.

Don't even get me started on the LB vs SB ;)
