Silas, how close it too close to overextending a shock? With my current setup at full droop my shock is 29" eye to eye and the shock itself at full extension is 29.95". Is this too close? Here's a pic at full droop. The tire is 1/2" off the ground

Impressive!!!!! That's pretty close.... Keep an eye on it... I wouldn't let it get within half an inch. You'll probably have to change the shock location or something soon. The more you use these leaves, the more they will flex...... ;) You're barely breaking them in! :D

Thanks man! I figured I'd have to change them, especially when I go longer shackles. My crossmember/upper shock mount has 2 mounting locations and I have them on the innermost now so I think if I move them out and then move the lower shock mounts up an inch then I'll be good.. for a while haha.

So.... for the past few months, I've been going through rear pinion seals like they're cv axles or something. (At least he underside of my bed and rear suspension has a very grimy gear oil rust coating.) Figured it was a breather problem, but the breather seemed to be fine. the head span freely and I was able to blow air through it. :notsure:

Well, I think I finally fixed the leaking and may have a better method than the traditional ext breather mod for water crossing protection, not as easy to clog, and overall breathability.

I got rid of the breather head completely, and now run a flexible fuel line from the axle, tapped straight into the charcoal canister vacuum line. The small vacuum draw is enough to reduce and control the pressure inside the axle, while at the same time low enough to not draw gear oil into the charcoal canister when the gear oil is splashing around. I think it also helps that the line is pretty long and the oil would have a long way to travel (At least, no gear oil has been drawn up since I did it a week ago.) I am tempted to also do this to the front diff and the t-case, but those seals are holding for now, and I don't feel like fixing what ain't broke.

I'll report back after a rock crawling trip when I put the axle every which way........ but I think it'll be fine.

I like it, as long as it works what is there not to like, besides you trying to sell the truck?

I wouldn't bother with the front, they seem to be high enough in the stock location. If you expect to get water in those, you'd better have a snorkel too!

    Thanks, mate.
That's a good point, the front pretty much already has an ext breather. However, it seems like I'm always leaking from the outer diff/inner cv axle seals.... I'm wondering if a little less pressure will cure that. :) I think I'll just try it.... only costs a few bucks for some hose and some couplings. :notsure: I shall report back! :D

Why do you think he hasn't posted in awhile? He already swapped it with tons and is currently trying to figure out how to post pictures, but keeps fapping over his truck.

I think he met his high school chem teacher and has begun cooking meth with him. We won't see much of Silas from now on.

I'm trying to draw him out with a Puerco run tomorrow.

Who knows, maybe he's already parked out there cooking in the bed of the Dragon.
