That cooler is def nice, do they have one that is a better fit for Gen2's? Or is it more of a universal fit?

I want to find this part somewhere else cheaper than that ebay listing. I cant justify spending that much for this. Plus this must be an outdated/discontinued product from toyota bc I had parts search for it and they said the part number is too old to find.

In regards to your expanding foam/balloon idea - you could insulate it from the other side of the plastic. Just remove the console and spray the foam into the cavities. Then, the inside of the "cooler" will still be plastic and stock looking.

However, due to the poor seal around the top of the console, I don't think it would be very efficient at all.

I think that that bottom compartment doesnt have enough space for ice and drinks.. I would have to buy the mini sodas for it to be effective and Im not really a soda drinker...

I saw this thread and looked in my West Marine catalog.
They have 15qt refer/freezer units from Engel that looks pretty good.
A little pricey, but seems more capable and only draw 2.8 amps.
    Dimensions are 17 1/2" long x 15 13/16" tall x 11 5/16" wide.
The length and height look like it would work just in back of the cupholder. The width looks a little tight on the seat belt buckles.
Does anyone know what is below the floor of the console? The height would work if that area was empty down to the exposed carpet level. It would be just about at console armrest height.
Has anyone tried somthing like this in the space from a 2nd gen console?
We currently fold down the back seat on the driver's side and use a medium size Iglo that just fits with the front seat slid back for a 6' driver, and keeps it from moving around.

Honestly, your over thinking this. It's not like your trying decide if you want a 30-yr arm or a 15-year fixed rate mortgage.

    It's just a cooler.

Well yeah Im not trying to make a mountain out of a molehile, but I like to have things right and not difficult. I enjoy doing modifications to a vehicle. So I prefer not spending mass amounts of $$. Imma look into the toyota cooler more and the other one that the other guy suggested. This has become a quest for me and by george If I will let some idiot over charge me for a small item as a cooler.

Just so you guys know those things aren't a fridge. At best you will get 30° difference from ambient temperature. I looked into these then bought something that operates on an actual refrigeration cycle.

As an example if its in a 90° environment you food is still gonna spoil. Put it in a toolbox or closed car with even higher temps and you're still drinking a hot beverage. No thanks.

These "coolers" are nothing more than a novelty IMHO.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
This ^^^^ they are pretty much the same thing as Whynter fridges (Edgstar is made by them) that I'm becoming a distributor for Whynter. IMO they are better then the off road fridges I'm not going to get into a pissing match with the off road fridge fans but the Whynter/edgestar fridge unit are better and at half the price it's a no brainier.

I asked Jorge@CBT and he said it is not a part number he can find, must have been a regional thing.

All I know is that the Toyota cooler is ugly as sin and belongs in a Toyota mini-van like the Sienna.

My truck IS a mini-van most days. :anonymous:

I do agree though, it is over priced but I would use one if I could find one for something more reasonable.
