I just was saying if he really wanted the off road package he could buy it from a state without sales tax or have a relative if they lived in they could take his money and buy it here then transfer the title to him

Yes, but OP can buy an AC offroad. I've been twiddling my thumbs waiting to see if anyone asks just how attached OP is to a DC.

If OP wants a DC to carry his wife and three teenage sons, it's clearly non-negotiable. If OP wants a DC to throw groceries in the back seats, maybe the offroad AC would make him happier

The difference is just $3k in Canada (a better to look at it: the SR5 is really overpriced). To keep things in perspective, fuel costs amount to some $4k per year with typical driving and insurance would be around $2k per year.

 

Lucky you w/less of a difference. The point remains, pay 3k extra for not much benefit or save the money and spend only if needed.

Depends on where you are in Canada, but yes $2k for full-coverage in major cities. New, young drivers face even higher premiums ($3-4k), so much so it's common to pay insurance in monthly installments.
