I'm considering it, but I'm wondering if ill wanna eat my gun half way through. Don't get me wrong, I love my truck. But I'm really starting to look hard at a F250 crew cab for the additional space (and they're just bad ass). Anyone take their Taco 13 hours for a week long trip with their wife and dog? Thoughts?

    PS......I'm 6'5 and my wife is 6'0.

I drove mine 1500 miles from albuquerque NM to columbus OH. Never felt uncomfortable at all.

Edit: I'm 6'2 in a first gen extra cab.

You're a better man than me. I had a 1st Gen double cab and I'm certain I would've eaten my gun on a trip like that in my 1st Gen!

I'm ass gets numb and my back hurts on long trips in my taco. The longest I've been on thus far is 6-7 hours, so this one is doubling it. And I refuse to stay the night somewhere in between!

Haha, well to be fair I did stop along the way just because I was visiting family. I find this truck very nice to drive on the freeway. Not having cruise control kinda sucked though.

Just drove from Georgia to Connecticut straight through, 14 1/2 hrs. Then back five days later. First time taking the Tacoma. Have taken the wife's Grand Cherokee on the same trip three or four times in the past. The Taco was much more comfortable. Had my son and his girlfriend along. No problems and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. No one in my family is over 6' though. :D

Purchased a new 2013 Tacoma Double Cab 4WD
    Stock at this time.
I have had a total of 4 and getting ready to take possession of my 5th. Ford F-250 Super Duty the first 4 had the extra half door my next one will have a full four doors and I really like the F250.

There is a lot of room. However it is my work vehicle. I have put hundreds of thousands of miles on the first four. Actually close to 790,000 miles. I have driven many trips that were 10+ and sometimes 14+ straight through drives. They are roomy. They use a lot of fuel. A lot.

I just purchased a 2013 Tacoma DCSB TRD Offroad for my wife as her new daily driver. We have not been on any long trips yet. I am 5'11".

    I have a suggestion.

Rent the F250 you want to purchase and take it on that road trip and see if it is everything you think it is. It is a cheap investment before you go buy one.

If this is a road trip you take often it may be worth the investment, but if not you may want to keep your Tacoma.

    Just a suggestion.

    Good luck.

I have thought about this option. Thanks for the suggestion. Where could I possibly rent one though?

I've been looking at a 2011 Lariat Diesel. If I could rent one of those, then I'd have to seriously consider it.

You may be able to rent one from your local Ford dealer, may be worth a phone call.
My longest run was 21 hours in my 05 access cab, typically I will run a solid 16 hours a day on a road trip and would not trade my Tacoma for any other truck as far as ride is concerned, the bucket seats are sooooo comfortable. I haul a 21' boat with it although I would prefer a full size for towing that much glass down the road and that v8 power is also more suited for it.

I'm thinking maybe I just need katskins. Lol. Maybe that will make my seats a little more comfy!

My wifes uncle has an F250 Super Duty and I rode a few hour with him in it. I felt like I blew out a Kidney and was very glad to get the hell out of that stage coach riding POS. My Tacoma rides like a Cadillac in comparison.

At 6' and 6'5", have you two considered a sunroof? Seriously though, I've found the lumbar support to be critical. I back it way off on most vehicles, but with these seats (TRD), it needs to be the opposite for me to feel comfortable. By comfortable, I'm talking 12-13 hours in the seats.

Longest I've done is 21 hours each way. We went South Florida to Chicago non stop with two alternating drivers. I'm 6'1" 225 and she's 5'7" 120lbs soaking wet. Cruise control is vital for that long drive. Loaded up with suitcases, coolers, and everything in the backseats, we were still able to recline back and be comfortable.

F150 would give you a smoother ride than the F250. F250 should only be a consideration if you need the power to haul...the ride won't be as good because its meant to last while working hard. Have you looked into a tundra? They ride soo smooth and have plenty of power...the 2014 doesn't look bad either...

The only thing that started to bother me was my right heel from sitting on the gas pedal for so long. Cruise control would be nice.

20 hour trips NY to Florida, wanted to kill my passengers but that had nothing to do with the truck.

Longest I have done was like 10 hrs. strait in mine and I was fine except for the fact that my cruise control does not work but my dad which 6'2 and 250 pounds with a messed up back was another story but for the most part it was fine and I have a 1st gen extra cab

Back in April of this year I drove my 12' regular cab 4 banger from Cincinnati to Atlanta and back. 997 miles round trip in 22hrs. And also partied in Atlanta at ACC Toyota for 8 of the 22hrs. I am 6'2" 300# and it was a nice comfy ride. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again. As a matter of fact I might be headed down for a birf party soon for my biddies mini crawler.

Drove my Taco almost 2,500 miles from Florida to Wyoming pulling a small uhaul trailer with no issues and a surprisingly comfortable drive. I even slept in it for a night haha... with a loaded shotgun reclined in the seat next to me of course.

HAHAHA...soo true. It's really test of patience to be cooped up with people for that long. Worst thing I ever did was make that South Fla to Chicago trip with my future wife, future sister inlaw and future mother in law. My fiancé and I discussed the reproductions of pushing them out of the vehicle in either the mountains of TN or in the middle of the Indiana windmill city...it almost happened...and that was in a loaded Chrysler Town and Country with leather DVD Players and a WiFi Hotspot. I could only imagine the trips my truck...

42 hours and 2800 miles round trip is a lot of time to spend with someone...
