Personal I find nothing wrong with body lift. Now saying that I know Im about to get a ear full but honest I find body lift are actual can be better some suspension lifts and Im saying that cause the fact that is the a large part of people argument against body lifts is that is actual does no give you any more clearance well when you do a suspension lifts you actual do not gain no clearance between the bottom of your axles and the ground and that where it matters the only thing that will give you actual more clearance is tires. Also when you do any type of suspension lift there is always a weak link such as cv axle angles or vibration from the careering bearing or throwing u joints out and ect. where body lifts the only weak link is there ugly and the can maybe cause the body to be a little weaker in a car accident. But Im not up here saying suspension lifts are bad Im just saying all you Cybor-mechanics need to learn some real knowledge before you dog some one else

I have $5,800 from the insurance to fix my truck from the wreck. I'm hopping I can get it fixed, get the suspension redone and re-paint the truck white..

When i bought my truck, it came with a 3" body lift and leveling kit. Leveling kit is 3" blocks under the springs and a 2" spacer above the front coils.

I swapped out the 2" coil spacer for 3" Toytec Eibach coils and the 3" block for 3" All Pro Standard Leaf Springs. I also removed the 3" body lift. My truck sit about level with 3" overall lift.

It is much safer and rides a lot better than before

You can check out Toytec.com for complete kits. Or Wheelersoffroad.com

Yeah, I was looking at the 3" Allpro leaf springs, but they said I have to modify something for it to work on my 97 Taco.
I think I'm going to keep my 3" body lift for now. But the suspension I know I need to fix.
What shocks do I use with the Eibach coils springs?

if you plan on removing the body lift, and you are replacing it ANYWAY it will probably be easier to just take it off now and be done with it

Well, if I take off the 3" body lift I have to pay someone to take the rock sliders off, and re-weld them back on lower, and shorten the stick and 4x4 thing inside the truck...

I think I may have to keep at least a 1" body lift because I can't move the rock sliders down more then 2"

Bilstein 5100 front shocks work best with the Eibach Coils. You can get them pre-assembled from Toytech.

Right! I forgot the All Pro springs dont fit our trucks. I had to get my spring hangers relocated when i did mine.

Thats wierd that they extended your sticks. Mine werent extended at all. Only things that were extended were all the bolts, steering column, bumper mounts, and radiator mounts.

Liessss. For the rear that is true until bigger tires. For the front, why do you think cv angles are a concern? It's because everything is higher now

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I have the same truck as you, and this is what I'm looking at doing: And by "doing" I mean buying and paying to have someone else install. :)

Dan from Wheeler's suggested I go with a 3 leave AAL to get even lift front and back.

Body lifts are fine for what they are. With 15 years of experience of modding and off-roading, I'll fork out the money for a suspension lift any day. Here's why:

Suspension lifts allow for longer travel.
Suspension lifts allow for tuning the suspension to the application.
Body lifts create a lever arm, putting stress on the body mounts that they weren't designed for.
Just like body lifts, suspension lifts allow running bigger tires.
Running bigger tires combined with higher stance increase clearance.
Tubbing the body will fit up to 37s without having to go to a BL. (seen and wheeled with a guy who has 'em on a 3" suspension lift)

Sure, suspension lifts on an IFS are limited by allowable CV angles but that's why I keep it under 3" of lift. If I need more, I'd consider a 1" BL but after that, if I needed more height, time to tub and maybe SAS.

It is the OP's truck so the OP's choice. There is plenty of good advice being given. If I were the OP, I'd get rid of the body lift, especially after seeing the damage due to an accident. But, if the OP is comfortable with what he expects out of the truck, no reason for the OP not to put another one on.

Yeah I think I may end up doing that. Except the leaf springs I have on there now are near shot. (So a machanic said)

If I take the body lift off, should I have a professional do the work? Because the steering would need adjusted along with idk what,.

I have 31" tires on my truck now and I'd almost like to get bigger when my current tires wear out.
And do you think I should have a professional take the 3" body lift off?
And what do you all think about a 1" body lift?
