Ain't no thing, just drove from San Diego to Houston. 22 hrs and not a problem. Loved the drive. The TRD seats where very comfortable and glad I waited to put the seat covers on... Bought the neoprene covers for it and long rides get sweaty and sticky sometimes. Covers look great but in a hot day... Ugggh

Sounds like my brother in-law. We say he has a 5 hour butt. After 5 hours he's done driving for the day and if you make him go longer he gets progressively more cranky. My dad's the worst though, he will drive 300 miles a day on a long day. Sometimes he'll only drive 50 miles. It takes him forever to get anywhere, but what the heck he is retired.

I've done a 18 hour round trip with the wife to Martinsville for the Nascar race a couple of times and we are both over 6' tall.
    Zero issues.
I've also driven across the country twice solo again with zero issues

    13 is not a big deal! ;)

I'm 6'5'' and my wife is 5'8'' and we have 3 Siberian Huskys and I've done many road trips to and from NY to CO 30 hours, WI to CO 19 hours, and GA ttoo CO 28 hours. And we've all ways been comfy, I've personally never had any luck with any ford...

I have a 2013 singlecab with the bench seat. My past experience with small trucks tells me I may not enjoy any trip longer than six hours, but I'm willing to be convinced. My Tacoma as it stands is pretty comfy.

I just took a trip through the mountains for 9 days and 3800km in my TRD OR Access cab with enough food and gear to sustain my girlfriend and I, plus the 3 other people in the other vehicle. No problem.

That being said, I drove 4800 km in three days last summer in a 1993 volkswagen golf diesel, so it was pretty easy to beat that...

Part of this is also thinking about the future. How well do baby seats fit in the back? Anyone have pics? Both my seats are all the way back, so I'm concerned that they may not fit.

Take at least 2 good breaks. I am talking like 1/2 an hour not just gas stops. That way you can run the dog to tire it out. And you can walk around to stretch the legs.

Yeah, I'll have to, force myself to do this. I have zero patience, so itll be hard to resist getting back to driving. Good call.

I wish my wife was a little less yuppie. I'd love to break this trip into 2 days with camping in between.

I have run my '11 Access cab back and forth from East Tennessee to DFW area many times, a good 1100 miles each way, and often done it one way in single day.

Now, my 94 Toy pickup, short bed, standard cab, 4 banger, five lugger used to run 1000 miles a day on a REGULAR basis, like Dayton to Dallas in 16 hours.

But if you want a bigger truck, go for it and let us know how much more it costs you to run.

Drove from Point Mugu California to Pace Florida ( near Pensacola) in 2 days.... 18 hours the first day, 16 the second. Tylenol and sweet tea helped me get through the drive!

Whelp, so long Taco. I pulled the trigger on a bigger truck tonight. I stuck with Toyota though and got a Tundra, Off Road, 4x4. I went in with a deal I didn't think the dealer would go for and they took it. They were all but drooling over the taco on trade.

Thanks for all the input, but I think my road trips will be a little more comfy from now on. The only thing that sucks is I have to start from scratch on the mods. Gonna hurt my pocket again, but will still be fun!

I have done the Utah to Georgia drive in my truck twice now, about 2000 miles. Definitely sore by the end of it, but its more from sitting for that long rather than any complaints with the truck.

I have driven my Taco on a 15 hrs road trip non stop. I'm 5'11, and had no issues. You're way taller than me, I suggest getting a tundra, or since you're thinking about ford, wait another year for the Re-model F series pick they are putting out. The concept/near production model looks sick. I'm considering getting one myself and keeping my Tacoma as my toy truck.

Congrats man! I seriously considered the Tundra, but the wife and I had a familiar conversation about if bigger is better or is there a "just right" size. She seems to buy the later argument, but sometimes I catch her looking longingly at the Tundra. If she notices that I saw she'll just say, "those are nice, but probably more than what we need. Tacoma is a perfect fit." Of course, I can't help but to think she is just trying to make me feel better.

did somebody say long road trips.

drove 1,600 miles to Missoula with 4 people in my access cab.

drove 1K miles out to denver with just me and one passenger

took a 700 mile trip to witchita

taken a bunch of other 3-600 mile trips in it

my ass gets sore from sitting all day and my back aches a bit, but that seems to happen regardless of what ride we take, but over all, i have no problems hopping in it and driving a long distance. i'm 6ft and have plenty of space except for when we had the 4 people rollin
