Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

Might be the added stress from the 35s... that kind of weight and size puts some excess wear on parts like bearings and brakes...just food for thought. Even with 33s I am ready for things like brakes and bearings and cvs to be replaced much more often.

 

Gettin carrier bearing replaced monday along with dash...lifted problems. ..35 problems. ..

 

Id say wheel spacers if you got em. Iv gone from 6" with 35's back down to 3" and 33's. Still on the original bearings... 98k or so

Quick question for the guys that have been to Shoe Creek. How much time do you think to drive from the trailhead to the top parking lot, straight through?

 

Not long, especially if you don't do the loop....

What is the loop? I'm also interested in a trip if anybody it's heading that way soon

 

Thanks! I'll be up there at the end of October to do some hiking on the AT and Crab Tree Falls. Just looking at options for where to start/end the hike.

How long does the loop take and would you recommend doing it alone?

Also I may be up for a wheeling/camping trip between now and then as well.

 

Hell Chris lets just head to uwharrie...missed the last trip and I am ready to roll once my bumper shows up.

 

I'd be up for the lighter trails. Still need a rear bumper, some more skids, and a locker.

so today for some reason I decided to take a look at my undercarriage, what I found was under my engine there are two crossmembers that are part of the frame. both of them are showing rust... is this a problem, Obviously on my skid plate (the cheap factory one) there is a little rust where it has rubbed on obstacles but I dont know what to do about the frame having rust. also whats something good to clean the undercarriage with? just a degreaser?

 

It's been a huge problem on SOME trucks. More toward the motor mounts. Some frames from 05-08 have failed at the mount. I'd clean up the truck real good and have it documented at a minimum.
