we'll do some market vegetables...but harvest is labor intensive. although we will have to pony up on labor for the orchards once we get that established.

probably going to grow pecans...and olives.

Well if you are planning to go organic hopefully there isn't anybody within a 20 mile radius planting Monsanto's privately funded , for profit , researched GMO seeds or using their " safe " corn fertilizer that is killing honeybees and is banned now in Europe but not here

Since we are talking about farming any one have an idea why I'm having so nuch of a problem growing bell peppers? They just seem to be doing good and then just whither away.

Raised bed. Actually a square foot garden if you are familiar. 4x8 container planted with tomatoes, eggplant, cucumber, squash, banana peppers, jalopenos, marigolds, okra, onions, and carrots. I used a potting soil as a soil to plant in. The garden has had a few doses of miracle grow and sevin dust for pest control. Planted in full sun all day.

 

I don't see anything wrong other than possibly cooking in the sun. My Bell peppers did better with partial or shaded in the heat of the day here in 103 Texas afternoons.

 

Yeah it's got me puzzled. One day the pepper is fine. Next day it's shriveled up. Other peppers are doing great though.

 

Getting enough water ?

 

Possibly a spot that didn't get filled,mixed enough? Too much fertilizer there? Too much manure there?

I'm giving up on a garden until I can semi shade better in this drought. Can't seem to water enough .
