I bought my 09 a few weeks ago and have been wondering why someone would replace the factory deck with the shitty walmart deck that's in it now? The steering wheel controls don't work with it, no cd changer, and no satellite radio. I'm going to look around for a factory one to replace it with. I was also wondering if it would be possible to replace it with a navi stereo from one of the newer tacos? Anyone ever done this?

Do you mean upgrading to a newer navi stereo would be a big upgrade? Or are you referring to the shitty walmart stereo?

I have an OEM one... Does your truck say "JBL" on the front door speaker grills??

If it does, my OEM head unit is from my 09 and was removed shortly after I bought it. Is practically brand new. Has 6 disk changer, bluetooth and steering wheel control connections. looking for $55 shipped. It will give you your JBL system back if you had one to begin with

I was referring to the shitty Walmart stereo. A newer nav unit with a steering wheel interface would be a nice setup.

Why don't you get an aftermarket touch screen with nav? Then you can have DVD attached to it etc. Now that makes me wonder if they were cheap on the deck, how bad the wiring looks in the back?

I'm willing to bet all the wires are cut instead of a harness used.

I found that when I first started buying used cars(early 20s). I found that people who used shitty equipment, 9 times out of 10 used shitty wiring and didn't do it properly. So be aware you might have some work to do OP. Don't be surprised they used Duct Tape to tie the wiring together.

This is better than paying someone to do it. When you pay someone you can't really watch what they're doing. At least with someone helping you, you can learn the right way. Plus you can do your own work and you know it's going to be done right the first time, the right time.

I'll take a look and see if it's got the JBL logos when I get back home tomorrow. I'd have no problem paying the actual shipping once you got quoted. It should be around $30-$40 from Cali. The truck has the sat radio antenna on the roof and a factory sub in the back so I assume it had the identical stereo that my other 09 TRD Sport had.

I just looked on Kijiji. I found one in Calgary that looks right. But it would cost me $160 to drive down there and back to pick it up lol.

I'm the second owner, I'm thinking the 1st guy must have had an aftermarket dvd deck in it and he took it out before he traded it in and just threw whatever junk he had laying around to make a quick working stereo before he traded it in.

You guys are probably right I'm probably going to have to wire it from scratch, does anyone have links to wiring diagrams?

If it has the sub in back then its the JBL. I'm looking to make $40 bucks on the radio and its already boxed up and ready to go so if you wanna pay $40 plus actual shipping just PM me an address and I'll get a quote for you.

The radio in there now should be really easy to pop out and check behind. If its the JBL system (which it is if it has the sub) then nothing should be chopped up because you can't simply splice into the OEM wiring like a regular system. It would require a jbl integration harness in order to function. Or wire is ran to each speaker individually. Regardless, I think you should be good to go. If anything is cut, I can probably get the wiring info for you.
