I started to read up on these trucks and seems like frame rot can be an issue. Owner said that it had been coated 3 yrs ago and had toyota look at it at the time including having a puncture test done on the frame, according to him all is well. Looking at the frame the coating seems to be flaking but I could not see anything obviously rotting through.

I love these little trucks but have no real basis for comparison so advice is appreciated!

    Thanks

Not sure how it is in Canada but here in the states the frame had to be inspected by Toyota by a certain date (4/11/11 I believe). If it was, Toyota warrantied the frame for 15 years after the original manufacture date. If during that time Toyota finds a hole in the frame, they will replace it under warranty. So, make sure the frame was inspected by Toyota by the due date and you'll be under warranty regarding frame rust. This is for 01-04's.

Honestly, looks like a good truck. Private owner, not bad mileage, seems like everything works. I wouldn't worry about that rust on the rear bumper, just don't tow anything with it. As far as frame rust goes, i've seen worse but it does have a fair amount of rust it looks like, use it as a bargaining point. It sounds like it's been tested for frame rot already so that would ease my mind somewhat.

Most importantly though, British Columbians are nice honest people ;) i doubt it's a junker.

I see it's a 2000 MY which means if it doesn't pass the frame test Toyota will buy it back. Frame replacement is only for MY 01-04.

It definitely doesn't look like a junker, the frame issue caught me off guard. reading all the gen1 forum though it doesn't seem like ALL these trucks were bad!

Can you or anyone confirm that this applies in Canada also?

    Thanks!

Most of the problem truck frames were in areas where they salt the shit outa' the roads. Has it always been a Prince George truck?
