What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Hammocks are awesome. I go backpacking once a year or more and switched from an ultralite sierra designs tent to a hammock and have had zero regrets. The key is hanging it right so you get as flat as possible.

Have you discovered hammockforums yet?

 

I need a one person tent but not willing to shell out another $200 so this might be a good alternative for me. Although it would make my sleeping pad useless and would have to buy different insulation.

 

Well, yesterday, installed Pelfreybilt bumper!

 

Depending on what type of camping you do, a hammock setup (hammock, suspension if not provided, and good tarp) can run you on up towards $150-200 also.

I usually like to backpack as light as possible so the first hammock I went with was a Grand Trunk Nano. It weighs 7.4 oz, and I paired it with what are called by the hammock community "whoopie slings" which are essentially amsteel spliced lines. I found out a 7.4 oz hammock is not that comfortable for a weekend trip even though I am 5"9" with a thin frame.

I'm using a hennessy hammock now and going to trade out the suspension system for something lighter...it has a velcro bottom entrance and built in bugnet which is a blast.

I mentioned hammockforums, which is the TW of the hammock world lol.

For a weekend trip, even an ENO hammock is a good deal and on the cheaper side.

Some hammocks come with a sleeping pad slip so you can slide in a thermarest or whatever brand and not have it reposition itself throughout the night.

There's sooo much information over at hammockforums. I lurked around and will be ordering some amsteel to make my suspension pieces.
Learn to sew and pickup a cheap hammock like the ones I got from Woot. I've got plans for these 2. The gf will have the bug net version and I'll mod mine. these mods are cheaper than our trucks.
My truck foes where I camp so weight's not really an issue for me.

Its a lot of fun to dial in the pieces of your setup! I have had a great time going out on trips and improving suspension every time with some new piece of kit someone on hammockforums makes.

 

I'm looking at getting a pair of either the Yukon mosquito net hammock or the Hennessey expedition soon.

 

Dropped it off at dealer to have dash replaced, carrier bearing replaced, and yaw sensor recalibrated
