What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

took the cage off and all my skid plates, picked up my used engine. tomorrow the process of taking the old one out starts.

 

Damn! That tells me to go light on wiping off my 08 dash even though I have never heard of this issue until 2012's.

 

Changed a coil pack on my 2.7. Anyone have this issue? Iv replaced 2 coil packs on the same cylinder within 2000 miles.

 

Tinted the windshield (so much nicer in the sun and keeps so cool I only need a/c on lowest setting). Also bought an organizer for the center console.

 

is this from sun damage?

08, and have a dashcover since day 1. makes me wonder how it looks under the cover now.

 

Does anyone know if the '13's have the dash problem as well??

Thanks Matt, here's what I've done so far: Icon stage 4 suspension set, Icon LCA skids (LCA protection and to work with next item), Icon S2 2ndary shock hoop with Icon bypass remote resi shocks, ATO shackle flip, Icon hydro air bump stops, skids & slides. I overdid the preload (per Icon) and need to back it off but I netted about 4+ inches. I do not rub on the mount because I did BAMF cab mount chops, however, the driver's side rubs the fender skirt in reverse with the wheels fully locked to the right (got to trim) and the bypass tube on the drivers side needs to be rotated a little more as the tires hits at full lock left going forward. I did not measure the before and after on the rear lift but will post hub-fender #s again after I back off the coilovers.

 

Pretty lame mod today: Installed the 14" Antenna-X that greeted me in the mail box. Tired of hitting all the darn tree limbs.

Sunday I setup a new Escort Max Radar detector and took it for it's first drive today. I'll eventually swap it out for the Escort 9500ix in the 911, but wanted to play with it a while.

 

Use some light oil on the threads of the antenna or else you're going to have a rusted mess after a few months.

 

Thanks for the reminder, but I had read that before. I used some lithium white grease on the threads before I installed it.

Theres a tsb on this now..seems like select 12s have had the issue...my dealer had never seen this until mine

 

Don't think so, But instead of finding out the hard way I have this on at all times except driving of course

 

Apparently sun isnt the problem...mine is garaged.....instead of using a black material for the dash they just painted the grey ones....well obviously that shit aint work

 

Same here. It's from driving with your hand at 12 o'clock and turning with one hand.

 

I finally got around to turning the seat belt chime off. I hunt and use the Taco to inspect the property, frequently getting in and out. The chime was driving me freakin' nuts so...

I picked up a Techstream off eBay for $25 (I'd link to it but I failed miserably when I tried).

The software that came with it would not install, the archive is corrupted on disk and on the downloads. I found an older version that was fine (from 1/30/2013).

It only took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to make the change and took the truck for test drive. No beeps, the light does stay lit on the dash, but I can live with that.

 

My buddy who is working on my truck right now turned off my seat belt..fixed my traction control, and even disabled my tpms with his software. .hes at toyota so I imagine its techstream

 

Hmmmm need the tpms done on mine.

 

Wish I could shut off that damn TPMS light! And the seat belt chime!

 

I made a shelf/dog bed for the back of my truck. Gotta make use of all available space when you have the short bed. It cost me about 8 bucks for the outdoor carpet from Home Depot. Already had 3/4" wafer board, 2X6s and floor adhesive from a house project.
