They're probably rock hard. Try to find someone who races or does track days. Buy their take offs. Can usually get a set for $100 or so and the centers are still pretty new.

Yes they are, I work with a guy that raced pikes peak, I'll see if he has some he'd be willing to sell. Pretty sure he mostly runs slicks though.:(

What part of the state is Columbus in? Go to Nelson ledges some weekend they're racing and buy some. It's north of i80 and about an hour from the PA line

I hear ya on saving a buck, and quite possibly it was just a defect. IMO, certain things you need to just spend the money on. A lot of people like them and swear by them, and maybe if it was only me riding in my truck, I might be willing to risk it. With my wife and kids though, no thanks. Those tires would be great for say a dedicated work/off road truck that doesn't see highway IMHO.

Doesn't sound like a bad tire. I'm outta the sport bike scene now so I don't know what tires are what. I was pretty partial to Pirelli or Michelin when I had my GSX-R. Just make sure you don't get something that's really hard

    So... I'm mad.
I had just picked up my dad from work, and was on the interstate, about 9:30 PM. V-DOT was doing work on the side of the road, and so had a lane or two blocked off, marked with traffic cones. The V-DOT guys had the cones encroaching well into our lane of traffic, but not for the intent of shutting it off- the cones were just on our side of the line, making our lane narrower. Poor placement. Dude in front of me clipped a cone and flung it into path of my truck- it was either veer left into another vehicle, veer right and hit V-DOT workers/equipment, or run over the traffic cone. Obviously enough, I decided to take out said traffic cone instead of killing someone. That damn traffic cone smacked into the face of my truck and went under it. When I got out to inspect the damage, I found my license plate all bent to hell. Crawled under the truck to check for more damage. Thankfully, the worst that traffic cone did under the truck was run a black skid mark on the elbow of the exhaust pipe and the cat- no dents or anything like that. But I'm still furious. I can't be but so mad at the guy who hit the cone, because the way the cones were placed, we were dealing with almost a foot less of room in our lane. I don't understand why the V-DOT guys would put their cones over the line on the side that the heavy traffic is on. Despite how furious I am, I wasn't going to pursue it, but my dad decided to call V-DOT to let them know what happened so that hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Sorry the pics are so crappy- I was holding a flashlight and using my phone as a camera. I'll try to shoot better pics in the morning.

I have sent them an e-mail and Dad called them- I figure I will call them myself in the morning, as it is now 1:39 AM. They probably won't do anything about it, but this whole thing really has me mad.
