What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Do you know the loaded tongue weight of the trailer? That is the key. 700 pounds in the bed is way different than even 500 pounds hanging out past the bumper. There is much more leverage to tongue weight and it ALL rides on the back axle (unless you're using a load-distributing hitch).

I've pulled a dual axle car hauler (18 foot) with a car on it with a full size truck and THAT was too big a load for that truck. I'd never try that much with a Taco.

The good thing about a dual axle is you can center the load on it to distribute the weight better. But remember: you need to follow the 10% rule of thumb which is 10% of total load should equal the tongue weight. In other words: 5000 pound total trailer weight means 500 pound tongue weight.

In my 08 I had to haul about 500 #'s from Alabama to Texas. That's when I found out my normal riding springs bottomed out on me all the way back home. It didn't hurt anything, just made for a rough ride at times. Got back, had the TSB done with new 4 leaf packs and now that weight is not an issue anymore. The ride is a little firmer but worth it.

Don't pay to get the TSB springs whatever you do , they suck balls , get the Wheelers HD leaf pack

 

Installed my pelfreybuilt bed bar, rigid amber and clear duallies to it, and my roto pax tacoma bed rail mount and 2 gal gas can.

 

Bought my new rear bumper and booked its repair date....so excited to have it fixed!!!

 

I relocated my trailer plug with a custom bracket.

guys the TPMS "de-activate" mod is super easy. I did it on my truck when i first got it, and its still out/no problems. I dont have any TPMS sensors either.

Yeah, i made that one. uncle art ordered my regular bracket and it didn't work with his 285 spare. So I made a shorter, upside down offset bracket for him. Glad it fits!
