That's all just salesmen talk. Sure we will give a free car after you pay $15k more then its worth on the tundra and finance with us for 30%. You can get a really good deal on a tundra right now, and if you don't have a preference the tundra is a better deal IMO. But they aren't just going to give you a free car.

    Buy one get one.

Kind of like the TV ad marketing, "Wait, we'll even throw in a second grass rooter wizard for free..... just pay shipping/handling." Which works out to another $11.95 for the second $2 piece of junk.

I had a '11 Tundra CrewMax and yes, it had rear A/C vents off the center console (2 of them).

right now Toyota is offering 0% APR over 60 months and I believe $500 cash back on the Tundra.

Also I traded my Tundra in and went "down" to the Tacoma because as you already noticed, the Tundra is f'ing MASSIVE. Look it is one hell of a vehicle and I had a loaded Platinum edition, brand new. But after 2 years of paying nearly $500 a month in JUST gas, it became just "too much".

I miss aspects of my Tundra, but after a couple of weeks in the tacoma ('12 DC 4x4 V6 SR5) i'm appreciating the tacoma for offering a much better commuter vehicle that still gives me flexibility to tow/haul/play.

too each their own of course. i made my choice based on what i needed/wanted. what i learned after 2 years of the tundra, full size trucks are f'ing expensive as commuter vehicles :) next full size truck will be diesel all the way for sure.

I don't think my 13 trd sport is basic at all, but I have never owned fancy vehicles. I actually think it has a lot of cool stuff. Touch screen radio, aux and USB ports, blue tooth, back up camera, steering wheel controls for radio and blue tooth, blinking side mirrors, etc

    Loaded by my standards.

My kids...3 and 6 have not complained about the air getting to the back. Cools off pretty quick.

You are correct...if you keep them up. I had a one owner 1983 SR-5 Long bed that I sold about Thanksgiving of 2012 for $4500. It was unmolested. Purchased new for $13,250 (extremely high dollar in 1983), but I figure after 30 years, I got a fair return on my money and the use of the truck.

Best way to figure if it's a problem is to take another test drive, get someone else to drive it and you get back there. Neither of my kids complain, but I spent some time back there and I did not like it to much for the first 10-15 minutes after a hot start.

Despite the lack of rear A/C vents, the Tacoma's air conditioning is pretty strong, so cooling off my double cab is no problem. Just crank that bad boy for a couple minutes and people sitting in the back should be fine. Never had a problem with passengers and their comfort.

I'll eventually upgrade to an aftermarket double-din head unit, but for now I'm satisfied with the lack of "fancy gadgets" inside my Tacoma. :) At the end of the day, all those things are distractions.

Thanks for more replies! Well, when I said "basic," I was referring to the '09 I looked at. I went and to a different dealer and saw an '11. Still didn't have USB. That won't be a deal breaker or anything, but just thought Toyota should have put one in by that year.

As mentioned, if I do go with one, I'll just have to be aware of cooling truck down as best as possible before putting my daughter in back.

Looked at the Tundra right next to the Tacoma today, and the Tundra is quite a bit of truck--more than I would need for sure. I was in somewhat of a rush so didn't get to see a LB Taco in person. It's like I'd want a mix of the Taco and Tundra (little bigger bed, little more room for those in back, rear A/C, MPG of the Taco).

    Decisions, decisions...

honestly, you are doing the exact same thing i did...only i started with a tundra as sort of a "i want THAT truck" with no thought put into it... 2 years later my "lizard brain" finally lost to my "$$ brain". the tundra is HUGE and it is AWESOME... but the Tacoma DC with LB (which I have) is in giving me more value for what i'm paying. i didn't HAVE to get rid of my tundra, i just got sick of paying so much to own it above and beyond just a payment. at 33K miles i was already on my 3rd FULL set of brakes...the 20" wheels are awesome but keeping them fitted is EXPENSIVE... all things that are sort of lost when you are looking at that bad boy, or driving it around and enjoying 400HP.

each truck has something unique to offer you, you'll enjoy either one of them but for different reasons. hope some of this helps and let us know what you decide!

Now, if you have one kid, assuming since I haven't heard anything different, then by putting the child seat in the middle, the middle vents can be pointed right in her direction, problem solved. :D

I have a '13 DC and here in AZ, the air is a little lacking for the back seat. My kids DO complain and I point the vents to the rear as much as possible. Of course it does get hotter here than anywhere else but rear air would've been a nice option.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, if we bought a Taco, we'd most likely take the kiddo around in the Highlander anyways. Want to make sure the air is not too terrible for her if she does ride back there though. 105 degree days plus high humidity = nasty summers here in TX!
