Cleaned MAF, throttle body, put in the oem denso plugs. On the last plug (Driver's side against the firewall, #6 I believe) the damn wire wouldn't come off. I kept pulling on it and ended up pulling the wire in half. I had to use needle nose pliers to get the end of the wire off the plug. Luckily I was doing this in the Advance Auto parking lot so I went in and bought some blue ngk wires. Running a little smoother so far, MPG will be the true test.

Oil field truck with 250k miles...original powertain. Wheelers 881's/5-pack, Energy bushings throughout.
    The 2.7 ticks like a madman at 250k miles....still getting 21mpg with 33x10.5's though.
Checked clearances and all exhaust were WAY out, some were double of the maximum spec.

Cool, thanks. I may be getting that AAL before the end of the year. Can you give me a measurement from hub center to the bottom of the fender flare?

Edit: I guess you have a couple hundered pounds of sliders and armor on yours, plus a hijack and large toolbox in there all the time, so that's more weight than I'd have on mine, but I'll appreciate the numbers still.

Did some rattlin' and some sprayin' today.

    - Touched up the hubs front/rear
    - Cleaned up + sprayed the rear axle
    - Touched up the front skid with gloss black this time
    - Cleaned up the lightbar/light hardware behind the grille

Looks A LOT cleaner now :D

Funny enough the toolbox must weigh more than the topper. I'm guessing the topper is in the 120lbs range, and the toolbox is around 150lbs. And the highlift is in there all the time, that's probably another 30-40ish. I can't remember what the sliders weight, about 50-60lbs each.

So anyways, I never remember to take before measurments, but the current hub to fender measurments are:

    Driver: 23.5"
    Passenger: 23.75

That's also with a full tank of gas. Oh, forgot to add that in all those pictures, my 265/75 spare was in the bed, just never got around to putting it back.

Edit: Curious as to stock hub to fender measurements if anyone has those.

    Damn son... looks great.

Need details. How much prep? Did you remove anything bolted to the axle or did you just spray right over it?

Did you mask off the rest of the truck body, spare, rear drums, etc?

I pulled over and turned my lights off( it was raining) and cut the engine off let everything clear out and figured out it only smoked when I had my wipers on or my lights, must be a wire shorting out or something.

This may not seem like big fish to any of you, but I had a lock on my spare tire assembly -- and I didn't have the key. So I ended up DESTROYING the lock in every way imaginable.

    Sheathing cut to bits:

The lock. That slot pin was a pain in the :fenforcer:

Definitely a must for the clean look! Mine look pretty bad before.

Prep? What prep? Ain't nobody got time fo'dat! :p

Haha nah I didn't do much prep like I originally wanted. I wanted to take a cup brush and drill to all the surface rust, but I guess I was too lazy so I just wiped it down and got all the loose stuff off and sprayed away.

I did mask off the bottom portions of the shocks, pretty much it.

I'll just touch it up or redo it the right way when it needs a fixin. The taco will be in Hawaii in a month anyway :yay: FINALLY.

Dude, I had the same problem when I did my rear suspension!I had never seen a lock on a spare and I couldn't find a key and really couldn't get up there to work on it because of the tire. Props to you for getting in there. I got fed up with it and took a plasma cutter to the braided cable hahaha

That happened to a Saturn I used to drive. A wire in the column shorted and I ended up needing a new turn signal switch. Definitely a scary feeling when you smell and see smoke coming from your steering column lol.

Changed the original Denso copper core plugs @ 100,500 miles. I recently purchased this truck and couldn't believe it has never had a tuneup.

Rotated the tires and cleaned out the cab. Still needs a bath, however.

Quick question, I know its not related to this thread but I think someone can answer it for me. I bought a 1600 lb clutch kit from trail gear not knowing its a high performance 6 puck clutch. I was told that since its a high performance clutch it will only last half as long and will be stiffer. So my question is, is it ok to use for daily driving and will it really only last half as long? Thanks in advance

I would stick with a full face clutch...smoother engagement and longer life. The segmented clutches are better for higher HP applications, which does not apply to Tacomas...even with a SC. I have 30+ AWD launches at 494awhp on my very small full face in my car.

Is the difference huge in the longevity between the puck vs. Full face?
