I was looking at getting a Hellwig rear sway for a little more on-road stability but would like to also address the front in some way. I'm assuming we actually have a front sway (do we?) and that there might be some options for a stiffer front bar to complement the rear bar and better balance the truck. Generally adding too much rear bar bias takes away rear grip so balance would be good. Are there some front bars, aftermarket or oem that swap in? Does the XRunner have an uprated bar that can be used in place on the taller prerunner suspension?

    Hey,

If you can send a PM to xrunnit or find his link in the X Runner forum he was running both a rear and a front sway bar. He posted a thread that showed him racing a 370ZX in May or June.. Let me know what you find out because I want to do the same thing for my truck. It handles like crap and I would love to fix that. I would do the leg but I am heading back home from vacation...

I think the X-Runner rear end is like a little different. They come with a stock rear sway bar and it has like little mount things on there. And mine doesn't. I don't know about yours jeremie, since you have a 5 lug like an X-Runner. And it just looks like the front sway bar mounts up differently or something. I don't know what I'm talking about. Just looks different than mine.

    Hey Jon,

I am in the process of simply swapping out the stock shocks, struts from a Sport model. I've got a regular cab pre-runner. I swapped the rear shocks this afternoon, and there is a huge difference compared to the stock shocks. The valving is much firmer so that will aid in less roll. Not as much as a roll bar, but it's just another piece to the puzzle. I can't wait to swap out the struts. It'll be a whole new ride.:D

I'll see if I can find someone who makes a different swaybar. I've not seen one yet. I'd be for upgrading that as well.

Is the Sport swaybar different from the off-road or non-trd trucks?

What shocks did you do the swap with? I really want to upgrade mine before I have to drive to Virginia in a month.

I have heard sittin sic sales sway bars for the taco. I haven't done much research on it since the money god says I need to buy new tires first.

I have a regular cab SR5 pre-runner with basic suspension. I am putting on the OEM TRD Bilstien struts and shocks that I bought on the cheap. Are they better than aftermarket or higher end ones? No. Are they better than what came on mine? Yes. Plus, the struts I bought have a 2" Revtek spacer to level out the front. Should be doing the struts this weekend.:woot:
