Just to let everyone know, disconnecting the battery while the engine is running on any vehicle that has a computer controlled can damage the computers on almost all modern vehicles.

You know swearing at someone makes you seem less intelligent to others? It shows lack of maturity and little comprehension of the English language.

When he disconnects the battery, does it not reset the ECU? So the ECU would have to relearn everything?

But in all seriousness OP........you have to unplug the battery when the truck is off.....when you plug it back and turn the truck on, the truck will turn off almost immediatly after you turn it on........when you turn it back on it should run normally...........THE TRUCK HAS TO BE OFF BEFORE YOU UNPLUG THE BATTERY.

The problem is it causes a voltage spike to the entire electrical system.

Normally I would stay out of cluster f%@$ed threads like this, however, I'm pretty sure I know what the OP is trying to say since the same thing has happened on my 2011 4.0 before. I have only disconnected my battery a few times while working on electrical stuff. After I plug it back in and go to start the truck up, it will fire up for a second then die on me. Then every start after that is completely normal. I never though of this as a real concern because mine has a dealer installed aftermarket alarm and I just figured it had something to do with the immobilizer. Pretty sure this is what the OP is talking about. If anybody has a better answer, then by all means, lets hear it

A lot of members are trying to figure it out. Some of us are having more fun with it though. We're just trying to make sense of it.

    Here let me translate-

Fo real dawg... when yo whip is dead you have to take da thingy off da batttry... when home dawg plugs the battery back in and you hotwire the truck with yo prizon shank, da trck diez asap after you crank it... when ya hotwires it it should run like a bro in da hood...... YO LOW RIDDA GOTTS TA BE OFF BEFORE YOU UNPLUG THE BATT.

I hope that the OP doesn't have the truck running and disconnects the positive terminal first.
