    This is a common occurance with Toyota trucks & SUVs. Every time we have one in the shop and we need to unhook the battery, they all start like that afterwards. Fire for a second, stall, restart and good to go. I think it's an ECU program thing.
    For some reason, I've never seen their cars act like that

    Not just a toyota thing. My Mustang did it and so did the ex wifes trailblazer. I believe it has to do with the chip immobilizer not getting the signal it is used to. Or an ecu program. I am too thinking the op meant this. I know there are some fools out in auto land. But im sure he would get the hint after the first time trying to disconnect the battery while the truck is running.

    Unplugging the battery causes the ecu to forget all of it's self checks it does upon start up so it resets itself...when you place the battery back into the circuit the computer starting to test everything once again and it runs the rpms really low causing the truck to just die when at idle a a light etc.
    It's normal, drive it for a good 10-20 miles and you're set...

    Ignore all the derps :rolleyes:

    What if he reconnected the battery and turned the key and didn't actually start the truck. Would that possibly stop the truck from acting the way it does? Would that give it the time to reset the ECU?
