4x4 SR5 vs TRD Sport Prerunner

Went shopping for a 2013 Access Cab yesterday. Was confronted with a choice on the dealer lot: 1) 4x4 SR5 AC V6 AT, Towing Pkg and 2) Prerunner, TRD Sport, AC, V6, Towing Pkg for about $1700 less money.

REALLY conflicted about whether or not the 4x4 is required or which of these two choices would be best for my needs. We don't get much snow in my area and I don't off-road...but I recognize the value of 4x4.

Would really appreciate your collective insights and opinions with this conundrum. Not really concerned about the money difference or resale since I plan on holding onto this vehicle for many years.

I think the resale alone would be worth the $1700.

 

I have a trd sport.........the main differences are the color coded body parts, the hood scoop, the interior trim and fabric and the sport seats.....sr5 does not come with these options....i think that is it

 

Yes, I understand the differences on paper between the SR5 and TRD Sport packages, but in this instance, which of these two choices is optimal?

Why not get a 4x4 sport when the 2014s hit the lot

 

As much as I demand my trucks have 4x4 (won't own one without it unless its a backup truck). With that said I know my needs aren't everyone else's needs. I would go with either one because at the end of the day I think you'll be happy with either.

 

Really, it all depends on what you want it to look like off of the lot.......in the end they will both do the same thing....as long as they are 4x4.........my hoodscoop has not gotten me out of any sticky situations so like i said, up to you, all the same

 

4x4 > non-4x4

 

get the 4x4 unless you wont use it.

 

I'd definitely go with 4x4. Seems like one of those things where you hope you don't have to use it, but if you do need it, you're damn glad to have it.

 

This. Plus you may end up getting the itch to off road once you get it and if you don't have 4x4 you may regret it. I'm glad I splurged for the 4x4.
