Thanks to everyone for responding. I'm not a dumb ass this is just a new world for me. I have an 05 Sti that is my toy. With that, I am not completely in the dark, but with this I am at you all's mercy.
I use this truck as a work truck. Moved down from a f150 for better gas mileage. Love the truck but it looks weak. I do use the 4x4 but not for trails. I love to pull people out of the ditch! I pull trailers and boats here and there but usually a highway bitch. I don't need the lift for any reason other than I want to be cool.

 

Gideon, can you weld the frame if I decided to cut it for 33x12.50's obviously we can discuss your price just curious.

I think the word you are looking for is ignorant. Everyone was ignorant to everything at some point. Gotta ask questions to get answers.

I wouldn't run a spacer lift if you want your truck to be comfortable while doing all that driving. Sounds like you are in your truck a lot. I would at least get Bilstein 5100 shocks. They are like $180 a pair. A single aal in the rear will give you the lift you want but won't help with payload and won't help with ride quality and is under $100. A 3 leaf aal will give you lift, along with better payload and ride quality and is around $200. A full leaf pack will give you the best of all of these and is around $400. You will also need longer shocks and again some 5100s would do you just fine.

I'm bored and figured I would post up in TW. Been over in the FJ forums for years, but that place gets old and I can't find enough people around Chattanooga and Birmingham to wheel with. I love tacoma's, if I didn't have the FJ I'd probably be driving one. I just figured I'd post up, join in on the BS, and hopefully wheel with some of ya'll at some point. I'm pretty sure I've seen Weston's taco running around the east brainerd area of Chatt-town a few times. Anyways, here are some pics of my rig.

Do you currently split your time between Birmingham and Chattanooga?

 

I go to school in Birmingham, Birmingham-Southern College, but I'm from Chattanooga originally and my girlfriend goes to Lee, so I'm up here over the Summers, Christmas, and intermittently during the year. I love it up here so I try to spend as much time here as I can.

 

Hey man! I think I waved at you yesterday passing Bones. Love your FJ. I'm selling the wheels and tires for $1200 or the wheels for $700 and tires for $600 if you or anyone else you know wants them. Also, if you wanna ride Aetna tomorrow, they're having a big group ride starting at raccoon mountain. I'll be in my jeep with a couple other guys.

 

Also, how do you like the trail grapplers? Just ordered them in 35's for my truck.

Going to Atlanta tomorrow to see the braves, hopefully picking up a winch while I'm down there as well, so unfortunately I won't be able to join. That was definitely me you passed, I waved back but you probably couldn't see me, my windshield is tinted so it's really dark when its rainy and dreary. Love your taco, actually you reminded me of the forum when you passed and figured I might as well post up since I'm in need of wheeling buddies, and most of the FJ's around here don't really touch dirt.

Thanks for the welcome Gideon, nice build you got, I love that its the manual 4cyl, very cool. I enjoy calling it how it is and giving each other loads of sh!t, but that can be hard to find on the FJ forums. I'll probably be posting up here regularly as long as ya'll don't mind an FJ chipping in.

Weston, I love the trail grapplers. They are a bit heavy, and my mileage and acceleration/handling/etc. went down noticeably compared to my old KM2's, but I absolutely love them. It's an offroad rig, the tires are heavy, but are built like tanks. I've run over an inch long screw, just pulled it out of my tread block and it was fine. They take a beating in the rocks and keep going, and wear like iron. They are fairly mild on road, not too loud, and handle very well. I always feel firm and planted.

Yeah man, like I said, whenever you wanna wheel just let me know. Definitely try and come out to adventure next weekend. But that's good about the trail grapplers. I noticed loss in everything as well with 33" Mickey Thompson MTZ's, 35's are gonna suck hahahaha. But look good!!
