wtf is "cushion tape"?

OK folks, I've read several articles where people secure their wiring with, or tape their wires with cushion tape prior to securing with zip ties. My question is, what is "cushion tape" and where can I get it? I've done google searches and the closet thing I've come up with is the cushion tape for baseball bats. The guys at the local auto store can't help. Can anyone help identify this mythical item? Thanks in advance.

If its what I'm thinking of google F4 tape.

 

I use it at work all the time. It stands up to extremely high and low temps, chemicals, and vibes.

 

They used that stuff all the time when I was working at an aircraft cable company. They used a lot of different tapes for that purpose, but the cushion tape they use is Silicone. Basically all it will do is prevent the zip tie or metal clamp from touching or doing damage to the wire or wire jacket.
