General consensus is that if you stay below 2.5" of lift in the front, you should be ok without getting new UCA's. However, at the 2.5" mark you may only be able to barely get your camber back into spec.

So what setting did you use on the 5100's? I'm assuming with the taller spring you had use a lower setting. I like this idea, softer ride appeals to me. Any issues bottoming out the shock?

Awesome thank you! I think what I'm going to do is get 4 5100's from downsouth motorsports then get 885x coils, a 1.5" aal and 2x 1/4" wheelers poly top plate spacers! Thanks for all the advice

I like the sounds of that set up. How much lift/what setting are you going to put on the front 5100's with that set up?

Also, does anyone know if there will be any rubbing with 275/70 17s and no wheel spacers?

I originally had it set at zero and had about 2.5" of lift up front. No issues bottoming out the shock. After the sliders, dual battery, front bumper, and skid, I bumped the 5100 up to the .85" setting to make up for the lift that I lost with all the extra weight. If you are putting 5100's on with OME 885 coils, start at the zero setting.

    You shouldn't be disappointed.

See above. Not sure about the rubbing with that tire size.

Just noticed you are getting two 1/4" top plate spacers and wasn't sure why. Most people only use one to correct for the taco lean.

What causes this taco lean? Why is it common for the drivers side to be lower?

Just the way it is. All 2nd gens have it. The factory coils have the compensation built into them.

The weight distribution is a little off in the in the 2nd gens. The battery, driver, and gas tank are all on the drivers side and there's not really anything on the passenger side to compensate for it.

    Hey all!

Im pretty new here and am trying to get setup with the 5100's all the way around as well.

I got quoted from Jack It Suspensions.com at 979$ for 4 bilsteins all the way around. But They allso have on there, blocks and a leveling kit for the front (Check out the Quote attached).

Is this a legit offer installed?

(Im kinda questioning the leveling kit and the blocks ect, are they necessary?)

Any help would be greatly appretiated, thanks!!

    say no to blocks!

Also, the 5100's are adjustable, so you don't need a leveling kit for the front. You can pick up all 4 shocks from from Downsouth Motorsports for less than half of that quote. Then install them yourself.

Are you wanting to lift it, or just level it out with a smoother ride?

Also, the diff drop is almost pointless in our trucks. Especially on a leveled truck.

Edit: Here you go. $300 for all 4 shocks with free shipping to your door.

Well I would like to lift it the 2.5-3" or whatever the Bilsteins do but also leave a slight rake, so when the bed is loaded it doesnt sit nose high. Ya know what I mean? I basically want to raise her up and get a smooth ride.

But the leveling Kit and the Blocks threw me off. Then again I have never done this before and am trying to learn as much as I can.

    Thoughts?

Unless you plan to get new upper control arms, you shouldn't go above 2.5" at the max. If you're going all the way up on the 5100's with the stock coils, get an add-a-leaf for the rear. That will get you going as a bare minimum. If you want to improve the 5100 setup more, get a pair of eibach or OME springs for the front and set the 5100's at .85 for the eibachs and at 0 for the OME. You'll get the same lift hight, but will have a smoother ride.

By using the aftermarket springs and setting the 5100's at a lower setting, you don't have to preload the springs as much or at all and you still get the lift you're looking for.

This results in smoother ride and happier springs.

    I see,

So if you were to go with a kit, much like Jack-It offered me, what would it be?

I guess Im just looking for somewhere to start when trying to pic out all the stuff I need to have installed for it to be right.
I obvisouly dont need the block kit or the leveling kit. I just want a 2.5" lift on my truck front and rear. Not completely level cuz I like the slight raked look.

    So...
    -Set of 4 Blisteins
-New Coils for the front (OME...what kind?)
    -AAL in the back

    Is this the correct setup?

And about how much would this run me installed, does anyone know?

Thanks a bunch for your help!!

That would be a great setup. You don't actually need the springs if you don't want them. They'll just smooth things out more. If getting OME springs, get the 885 springs unless you're running an off-road bumper and winch. If you are, then get the 886 springs.

    5100 shocks - 300 w/ free shipping (Downsouth Motorsports)
    OME 885 Springs - 160 + shipping (Wheeler's Off-Road)
    2" AAL - 78 + shipping (Wheeler's Off-Road)
    Taco Lean Spacer - 23 + shipping (Wheeler's Off-Road)

Total Parts: 561 + some shipping for the wheeler's stuff

Installation: Cheapest way to do it is yourself. It's really not that hard to do if you have basic tools and general mechanical know how. There's a youtube video and threads on here showing how to install it. Better yet, find someone from TW that is near you or that would be willing to help out for a few beers or a small fee. Your next option is to take it to a shop. The Jack-It place that you got the quote from has a line for labor so you already know what they'll cost. You'll probably find that amount is fair.
