I just bought a 2013 Tacoma Access Cab 2WD, 4cyl, 5spd manual. AWESOME!! Only thing I don't like is the stiffness of the ride. Has anyone resolved this problem and if so, how did you do it?

    Thanks

    No.
First truck was a 1976 Toyota standard cab 4 cyl, 5spd. It wasn't as stiff as this. Great truck. 135,000 miles before I sold it.
Current truck (before now) is a 1998 Nissan Frontier. Rides pretty nice. 215,000 miles. Runs like a watch! And its for sale.
Also had a Chevy van in between them.

    Thanks

Can't help you there! I had a Ranger prior to the truck I just bought, so it is almost too smooth for me :p. I don't know about the difference between Access and Double cab... And if the TRD suspension changes anything...

I have the same truck as you. It does ride a little stiff, probably because it has the same suspension as as a double cab v6, but not the weight. It will get a little softer over time, but it is what it is.

I've heard bilstein 5100 set at no lift rides better than stock, but have not experienced it. I'll probably swap those in and set them at .85 once my tires wear out.

    Check your tire pressure.
Coming from my tooth jarring ranger my Tacoma rides as smooth and quiet as a ford explorer or new SUV.

:notsure: not used to hearing someone say the ride is rough. Usually they say its too soft?

Why did you buy a truck? Tacoma suspension is too soft.

If you think the stock ride is stiff, don't think about putting a lift on it.

Thanks for the replies. Thanks Juggernaut for the tip about the Bilstein 5100's. I'll check them out.
I'm getting used to the ride, but it makes sense that with the same suspension as the heavier trucks, it would ride a little stiffer (4 cylinder Access Cab vs. 6 cylinder Crew Cab).
I don't really want to lift it, but am considering some 16 inch alloys with some 265 R70 16's. Has anybody done that and if so how did it work?
First fill up after the dealership gas ran out got 23 mpg, just as advertised. Combo city and highway. Very pleased!

That's the tire size I have...its also the stock size for the TRD off road...

You can actually go up to 265/75/16 if you want without any issues.
