I am dissapointed in this deal, after a week on my new Tacoma, my radio began to intermittently power off and have volume issues. Now this comes up, I hope this isn't a sign of bad things to come.

I have the part numbers on my springs and also the (VDS?) VIN portion matched in the TSB for this to be done. I really do not feel like getting into a confrontation with the dealer.

They still have not called me back on the radio so I am guessing this may not get taken care of in a timely matter either if I bring it up. I just do not want to deal with the "We haven't heard this happening" or the "It's working now so we can't fix it" kinda of thing.

I do not want to have to come up with a lie to have them fix it, I would like to do it as a preventative measure and becuase it is an issue.

The radio is a common issue. The dealer will replace it without hassle.

The TSB is not an issue if you don't haul things. It actually has a softer ride with the 3 leaf pack. 99% of Taco owners probably never have or notice a problem. Most have issue with it because they WANT it but do not NEED it.
FWIW...my TSB was completed with 1 phone call and 1 visit to the dealer. No hassle what-so-ever.

I understand the part of people who just want to have it done, but they way I look at it is, I bought the truck with plans to haul items, etc. I keep reading about problems with it bottoming out and would like to avoid this happening and possibly causing damage, etc to a new truck I have only had for a couple or months or so.

I do want it because it would be nice to have, and also if it is going to help avoid any kind of issues. If I was not going to use the truck for what it is made for then I would have bought a Camry or Yaris. I just bought the truck and really wish they would have carried over the fixes from the 2008 problem list.

I guess if it is a pain then I should do something about it. Or deal with and shut up eh? :)

I hear what you are both saying...they should make the necessary adjustments in production. But we are not familiar with their market research and they may have determined that most people want the softer ride than the ability to haul 500+ lbs. That is why they have a TSB to satisfy those who do use the truck to haul. It's unfortunate that they are, in some cases, putting up a fight to not complete it.

If it was that big of an issue for me, I would spend the $80-$100 and AAL that would increase the hauling ability of the truck. I realize that sucks but it was a $27,000+ investment and that is a small amount to satisfy your needs. If you don't mind putting up a fight on a daily basis...have at it. To me, the $80 would be justified by saving me the time, effort and frustrations of fighting it. To each his own and I wish you best of luck in your fight!

My radio has the same issues and my dealer orderd a new one, no questions asked. He said it was common on the new Tacomas.

I pulled a trailer that was pretty loaded up and did not notice any issues with my rear bottoming out. Granted it was only about ten miles.

I emailed Toyota about this and they contacted the dealer, I went this route so I do not have to hear the typical dealer BS which they may or not have given me. They will be contacting me by or on July 6th, will keep you guys posted.

I will deal with the BS as money out of my pocket would be better spent on other items such as running boards, etc. They should take care of it, hopefully. Wish me luck guys!

    Too few to list.
Some people went another way by going through the better business bureau to file a complaint. They send Toyota your complaint and Toyota usually follows up with you.

I went to the dealership yesterday because the volume knob on my stereo wont work sometimes. Of course it was working when i brought it into the dealership. I talked to one of the guys and he said no problem he would order a new radio, and then I figured i would try to do the TSB for the springs, and told him that the rear end wandered all over the place with load in the back and he said "I dont think that i have a bulliten for that" to which i said "well after I noticed it handleing i went and did some homework online and found alot of people with this issue and i found a TSB for it" and he asked me what it said, and i was honest "well it does not have the 09's listed but it does a some vin numbers that are covered and also has the leaf spring numbers that are affected and both my vin and leafsprings fall under it." He said ok and we went back to his office and he called his guy in the garage and asked if he knew anything about it and he said "certainly do, i think i may have some laying around just incase someone came in complaing of this, let me check and i'll call you back" so i waited about 5 minutes and the phone rang and he said that they already gave them out. So the guy that was helping me from the beginning said that he would order the radio and call to see if he can get the stuff for the TSb ordered. They really seemed like they were trying to help me so i'm remaining optimistic.

The Toyota dealer called this morning and let me know about the OEM radio being on back order. I can deal with this but I am thinking it was only done because I had contacted Toyota support.

They also asked about the TSB and the TSB number, I gave it to them and they stated they will call me back on this. Hopefully it will be good news when they do.

So far it has gone well, the route I took has saved some frustration and temper flaring. I don't know if I have confidence on this dealer's service department but I could just be paranoid.

As figured, the service department called and stated that the production date does not match and that my VIN numbers,Spring part numbers, etc do not show. I have the TSB and see where they do match.

He states that he does not see the match. Oh well, guess its back to Toyota and see what they say.

After being turned down for the TSB, a quick second call to Toyota made it happen. The service manager then called me back and stated that he was able to find instances of this being taken care of at another location and has the parts in stock. I will be taking it in tomorrow for the TSB to be done!

Good luck to all on getting your TSB done if you are persuing it.
