Alright, good info. Another reason to get one of the two wheels I'm considering then.

I don't want anyone to go to any effort on my account other than just giving their input on the combo and any other details that will help the decision like some have already given. I'm leaning towards the black FJ's at this point and I'm sure they'll grow on me. Should look better than the stockers anyway and while I see a lot of the silver and even some anthracite FJ wheels around I've never seen the black ones so at least they'll be unique.

Nah just puts more crawl in the mall! ;)

Looking forward to seeing the new wheel/tire combo. I spent a good part of the night trying to find that damn post on making TX PRO wheels into true bead locks and cannot find it anywhere. Its pissing me off. Starting to think I must have just dreamed it. :(

    Hey Devin,

I think you mentioned your wife works in Broomfield. What is that area like? We might be moving out there next summer and getting an apartment to speed things up. One in Broomfield came up on our search, curious if it is worth at least putting the area on a short list.

Anything new on selling your current place?

I live on the eastern side of Broomfield. Great place to live. Most areas are nice and safe.

Yeah, maybe you did. ;) It's alright because I'm leaning the black ones anyway so I'm not sure that info would make me go back to the TX ones. I'm a tight ass with money so the $50 per wheel savings has piqued my interest. :D That and it seems like people like them more than I do so I'll probably learn to love them with time.

Or I can just buy them and see how they look in person.

Trying to decide if I want to stretch to 285/75r16's. I read posts and a lot of people say it's not worth the added headache involved. It would mean ~2mph speedo difference at 75mph, (slightly) lowered MPG and acceleration, more PITA to mount the spare in the stock location & more rubbing potential. I have a feeling I would be just fine with the 265/75r16 tires as a great step up from the stock tires. I see the price difference is like $15 a tire though and they look cool for sure so I'm trying to decide for sure which way I want to go. That PM truck I posted earlier has the 265/75r16 version and a slightly lower lift and I think it looks great. I should probably just go that route but I want to make sure I won't have regrets. I read some other posts though where people posed the same question and there were people who actually regretted the larger tires and some who even stepped back down and were happier there.

Ost- FWIW I had 285/75/16...as I likes that lol with the lift, and to wheel.

If U were to do 285's (you'll need spacers if u keep ur stock OR wheels) my guess is you'll need some trimming as well....as for the speed difference I think it increases as the MPH's pick up....a Hypertech programmer can correct that as it can throw off you actual engine miles too.

Yeah, I think I may just stick with the 265/75r16's instead. Sounds much easier. :D

I have not noticed my speed being off OST. Every time I go past a speed trap I check it. Also I only have spacers on The front with my 285's.

Using two different GPS units (that agreed with each other). My speedometer reads ~5mph slow at highway speeds (65-75mph)

About 3.5-4mph here stock wheels & tires with as many as four GPS devices (two in the truck & two smartphones all in agreement). I read that 265/75r16 makes it perfect but throws the odometer off since they're calculated separately on these trucks. A quick online calculator says that 285's would indicate about 2mph slower than the 265's.

My speedometer is for sure off but I try to drive with the flow of traffic not by the speedo so I don't mind it too much

I guess I haven't done it at hwy speeds. I seem to run with traffic just fine. At 25-30mph by those school Zone ones it seems right on.
