I don't have a lot of time to do a search at the moment so what suspension shocks and springs are out there to make my truck ride better without having to spend an arm and a leg? I don't rock crawl but I am pretty hard on my trucks off roading when I'm hunting and so on. I guess I just need some springs and shocks that actually work the suspension and not feel as it just working the whole truck.

I like my DCLB 4x4 TRD Sport but it rides on and off the road terrible. I am used to my 02 FX4 Ranger as far as being able to beat the hell out of it off road and it just laughs at every bump and tree. But I needed the extra room and the TuRD looks really good, but the suspension just sucks. My wife loves the woods and mud bogging but she even hates riding in this truck.

I'm no expert but from what I've read the Sport has a stiff suspension, I know I feel ever tiny bump in the road.

You could look into some Bilstein 5100's, still going to be fairly rough though, it is a truck after all.

    K. What do the 5100's run? Are the stock shocks just that stiff that they don't let the suspension work and follow the terrain?

Yeah It's a truck, but I'm used to having 4x4's that the suspension actually works. A guy I work with bought a '12 DCSB 4x4 non-TRD new and he is complaining about how crappy his acts off road also.

What do you consider the cost of an arm & leg? Because the average TW member will change out the shocks with 5100's (which are relatively cheap) but they are mainly for added lift & do not give a soft, cushy ride.

Right now I have them at 28psi which is what Toyota recommends. I've tried from 40 and dropped down in 2psi incros till it felt and handled the best and the recommended press ended up being the best.

I doubt he will think so if he believes the stock ride is harsh.

What I mean by that is I didn't buy this truck to do a bunch of mods on. I bought it mainly for the room and I still needed a smaller truck because of the tight trails when I am in the woods hunting but still needed enough motor to tow my boat. I am about to have a kid or I would have just kept my FX4 Ranger which I absolutely loved anyway where I could beat the hell out of it and never had to do any mods to except for bigger tires.

I build high HP cars and trucks and that is just where I prefer to put my money right now but just wanted to know if there was anything out there to give these things a nicer ride. Then I will decide if its something I want to spend money on. Not that familiar with these suspensions yet and was just hoping maybe Toyota put on a shock that was to harsh for the trucks weight and that was all it was.

    Thanks for the input guys.

Just my two cents here... But in my 06 TRD Sport, I felt every single bump in the road. I now have an 2013 SR5, which almost feels like driving a car in comparison to the TRD Sport suspension. With that being said, I'd still like to eventually do an OME or 5100 upgrade.

Yeah 5100s wont be very soft, but that is your best cheap bet. I have a 13 DCSB and ive almost saved up enough for an OME kit with LR ucas which everyone says is softer but higher and more $.
