So what all happened to it? Melted some wires together? If your locker is factory with the factory ecu you shouldn't have to line up the gears. The ecu takes care of tellin got how far to go and when to stop

The guy that welded on my sliders accidentally melted a few wires. He had it covered but heat still got through I guess.

I took apart the locker gears thinking it may have been messed up. If you don't install everything aligned together correctly inside it won't engage/disengage correctly.

but as I understand it you dont. the ecu tells the motor when it has engaged and disengaged the locker, and takes care of the alignment issues for you. i have to line up the rack and gear because i don't have an ecu to tell the motor turn on and off, but from the factory it can determine that for itself
well run the gammet of tests. start ruling out things it could be by isolating each part haha

well you just have to start pulling shit off and testing it. first off, what does it do or not do?

check fuses, then if you did the grey wire mod put it back to factory. pull the motor and test it out of the truck, slide the rack with the motor out, hook up motor to someone else's truck

oh shit haha. i think thats what I have. It was synthetic to start when i did the regear, but i forget honestly. but in reality there is not that much of a difference. hell i have a cocktail of different weights and gear oils in mine right now, ive ripped the axle apart so much and lost so much oil i just kept refilling it with whatever i have. ill drain and refill it again when i know im finished with it

    Quoted from multiple how-to's:

There are two slots in that output gear that engage drive tangs on the output shaft. You can see them here at about 3 and 9 o'clock. It is important that they be oriented as indicated with respect to the housing when the motor is energized to go to and stops at the lock position. This verifies correct operation (at the right times) of the contacts below the large composite gear. Shown above is the correct position when the actuator is in the lock position. You can also see in this photo that curved segment attached to the large composite gear that was mentioned previously. There are a couple of different ways to verify the correct assembly, function and position of the output gear with respect to the motor. One is to reinstall the cover, hook up the actuator to the truck's electrical connector, engage the differential lock button on the dash and see if the output gear stops in the location shown. The other way is more complex but can be done at the bench without reinstalling the cover. I decided to use this bench method to verify the assembly before I proceeded. This bench method is described in the manual as a check function but there are some typos there that incorrectly identify some pinouts. I'll address those in the next section.

"In the face of the pinion drive gear you will see two slots.
With the actuator vertical as if installed the slots will line up off of the vertical just a tad.
Tape a couple of flashlight battery cells together so you have a source of 3V.
There are two leads in the actuator connector that actually drive the motor. Pins 3 & 5. The wire colors are green/red and green.
Using some wire, connect the battey to the two motor drive pins, just touch one pin so as to rotate the pinion gear the shortest path to where the two slots line up to vertical. If you over drive it, just reverse polarity and drive it back until you get the slots to line up vertical.
When you have the slots lines up vertical, try to reinstall the actuator without moving the rack gear. You may have to fiddle with the pinon gear position just a bit, somethimes it's a little off vertical but not much. Don't force the actuator on or you'll mess up the rack gear."
