I recently purchased a 2005 Tacoma. The back left wheel and tire are different from the other three on the truck. It seems like they may be from the spare, since that's no longer there under the truck.

I love the truck, but it seems like this is causing it to pull to the right at highway speeds and also a slight vibration. The tire is the same size as the others, and the wheel seems to be the same as well.

I'm wondering if y'all think a rotation/balance will correct this problem? If not, should I look into a new set of 4 tires (and maybe a replacement OEM wheel)? I don't really have any history on the current tires or what caused the wheel to be changed.

    Thanks!

I would definitely get a matching wheel and have the tire mounted on it. I am speaking out of my ass but unless the specs (weight, balancing, backspace, offset, etc) are exactly identical, I can't see any good coming from the situation

I think having them balanced would't hurt. If it doesn't fix things maybe go for a set of tires. Personally I couldn't handle having 2 different rims on 1 truck.

    Welcom to TW.

Thanks a lot for the help. I'll probably end up getting new wheels and tires on all four.

I am not sure if any harm could come of it, but getting 4 matching sounds like the safest and most aesthetically pleasing route. Where are you located?

I'm in Austin, Texas. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions on this forum in the future. It's really nice to get such quick responses.

Thats what its here for! Also try and browse around the wheel tire forum. Many MANY questions have been asked and issues have beet dealt with over and over again (including a few posts by me). Maybe you can get some questions answered before you even ask. And if not, ask away!
