Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
The total was 7300 and some change. That includes the cost the insurance paid to replace the rigid light bar $999 so minusthat it would be a 6300 repair. Have a great day!

Using your truck is one thing. But overloading it by ~50% of its stated capability/capacity is another.

true, generally its not overloaded but the few times it goes well beyond its rated capacities (landscaping supplies for my yard) (loads of drywall etc for remodeling my basement) it handles it well and there are not enough times to justify wasting money on a bigger truck.

as far as payload the added springs make the rated payload an option (11-1200 lbs) something like that. the stock springs were completely overstressed and had poor drive-ability with half the rated payload. in fact they were so bad that with roughly 300 lbs (22r on pallet) in the bed driving across town it would consistently bounce on the bumpstops (lots of wavy roads here) and the truck would waddle. my 2008 was not that way at all (had 4 leafs stock vs 3)

trailer brakes and conservative driving help with the overweight trailer times and generally 1900 lb trailer plus roughly 4000 lb truck are barely over the 6500.

besides, the ratings are generalizations based on all conditions and don't mean much more than a guideline of what to expect.

additional safety concerns and maintenance issue are involved but as long as you are aware of them and take precautions etc its not an issue.

I would not recommend driving cross country or doing it often, and I wouldn't exceed about 150 % ever but I wouldn't be afraid to exceed the ratings in any aspect given respect (these trucks were never meant to do most of the things the owners do with them!)
