Finally got my bike finished. I am pleased with it, although it did cause some frustration along the line. I think the overall price is also appealing.

    Giant Boulder SE- Free
    RockShox XC28 100mm travel- $125
    Shimano CN-HG 70 chain-$20
    Shimano MF-TZ31 Freewheel-$15
Alligator Sleek Glide shifter cable kit- $17
    Alligator brake cable set-$6
    2 puncture resistant tubes-$20
    Metal Pedals-$10

    Total-$213

I tore the bike down to the bare frame then sanded, painted and clear coated it. I built it back up from there. I learned a lot considering this is my first time messing with a bike. I can't wait to get it out on the trails!

Thanks! Its nothing too special but I built it and that's all that matters. It will serve its purpose as an entry level XC bike. I will get into the big boy league like yall one day :D:cheers:

    I am 6'1" 215 looking at a 07 jamis dakar sport 21" frame. Barley used. $375
The sizing chart I found said a 19.5" frame is the best match for my size.
I will only be riding on hilly dirt roads for cross country purposes. No hard core stuff.
I haven't owned a bike since my mongoose decade bmx back in the late 80's at 14
    And don't know what's what.
If it helps I ride a Harley Davidson road king and she's a beast but I can turn her on a dime.
    Thanks for any help!

    Here's the jamis.

    Yeah.
According to Bikepedia, that looks like a 2002 model. They stopped making that model in 2006, so it is probably not an '07.

It looks to be in good shape, but $375 should get you a newer hard tail with more current components. I personally wouldn't pay more than $250 for that bike.

As far as size, if it is the 21" it is the XL frame. I am 5'11" and ride a Large. Depending on how you are put together and what is comfortable, you may be fine with an XL.

Pretty much all I ride in the Summer. If you have the parts to finish it, it might be fun to get into SS with, but if you have to buy things (wheels, cranks) it could get pricey.

    I'll see your 6 bikes....

And raise ya 5 bikes, 7 surfboards and 2 longboard skateboards! :D
Although I'll admit they weren't DH rigs...

And DAMN that's a fine load of hardware in that Titan!

nice i love my flux helmet, it fits perfect, although the visor kept falling off when i put the helmet behind my seat. i just took it off haha. i like my dakine pack, the bladder is better than the basic cambelbak bladder since you can take the hose off. as far as forums, the only one i go on is mtbr, but that rarely. i dont know of any 29er specific forums.
