I dunno. For the merc, there is henson performance who is really good with the 5.0s. I just always try to stay local and There isn't much for tuners for my MH. I emailed them via the website. But when I read the reviews they were 60/40 good bad. The bad seemed legit, not just complaining.

 

they are a SCT dealer and tuner shop btw, I made a call to a friend at sct, as far as your 5liter more then likely its an ECCIV System, they should be able to do a flash tune and or flash a chip for you and if something happens you can pull the chip and go back to stock tune down the road.

Thanks. I'll see if they respond back. I don't know why I would like a stock tune, but it would be a nice option.

Hopefully they will give me the "off-road" tune since I don't smog the merc.

 

Too bad I stopped tuning with SCT's software, id plug and burn some loops for you.

 

I'll trailer it there with the plates off if I get more power. LOL

 

Could go with a bigger MAF and have it all tuned at the same time, the stock MAF has a very small window of adjustment those years.

I know thats the downfall. Just trying to see options/prices from someone other than google. I don't want to spend alot since it runs good and I have a grip of stuff to spend money on right now. But I might have some good hp just sitting there for not much money.

I was just looking at those. LOL. Whether I have the newer/older style heads doesn't make a difference in the tune does it?

well Gary, with what you told me, you may only need a tune to dial in what you already have, may be happily surprised how much you can ring out safely mind you, from your current set-up. Ford is famous for having alot of programming/tuning room in most of its platforms.

nope. flow thru is flow thru, when they tune, its usually looking at MAF sample counts in the point files and making corrections therein, after that its a tweek to timing and and where the injector pulse train is and how it pulses.

 

Always happy with low expectations. That's why i figured I would give a shop an hour or two on the dyno just retune for the new parts. The truck feels like a two stroke sometimes. I'm sure thats all the stuf I'm put on with stock grandma electronics from ford. Thanks again. I'll hit up one of the shops before season.

 

Hey guys, so I finally pulled the trigger, my Yaesu 7900 should be showing up any minute now...Do I need to get it tuned like a CB? Or just hook up an antenna and should be good to go?
