Was the right turn against a red arrow or a "do not turn on red"?

You can turn on red and it was just a red light, not a red arrow

If the ticket mailed to you has a court contact information it is legit, if the ticket was from a private company with no court info you can toss that shit, i get about 1 of those a month from driving on oakland, they are all from private company, they even got my face my plate and a video of me doing the dirty lol

Not sure if things have changed in the last 10 years or not. It used to be that red light camera tickets were not legally enforceable in Calif. Lower courts would say they're valid, but every one sent to the appeals court used to get thrown out. Appeals court said there was no standard on how often the cameras had to be calibrated. It was an automatic toss because of that. Might just do a little googling (if it's working again :D ) to see if that's still the case.

Turning on a red light tickets suck big time. I've gotten two and both have been above $500 each time. I don't know if there is much you can do unless they can't see your face and you say you weren't driving at the time. Not sure how well that will work, but it's worth a shot.

If they rolled a red and got caught, pay the fine. Or quit breaking laws you can't afford to get caught for.

    Easy fix.

    ...too much shit to list.
Unless the ticket came in the mail certified and you signed for it...you never got the ticket. Simple as that. Throw it in the trash.
It won't count against your driving record. The photo evidence is all hearsay. Do some google searches on it.

    No kidding.

I think everyone here has rolled through a right turn on a red light when no cars are coming. Well, except for you. :p

One thing that I absolutely can't stand are people that roll stop signs or red lights. Some don't even slow down-bicycles are especially guilty of this.

It's not that I care if you roll the sign/light but that it becomes habit and sooner or later, you're going to roll when you should have stopped.

Red lights I definitely stop for. Stop signs, I do as well because of all the kids around here.

As a cyclist (who runs a cycling site) I have to agree with you here. I feel that a lot of the cyclist do that because they don't want to lose their momentum. We are expected to keep up with speed of traffic and trust me, it's not like we can step on the gas and go. This is not an excuse, it's a reason. Albeit, we (cyclists) are to abide by rules of the road because we are sharing the road, although that rarely happens. It's kind of a no win situation. Especially if you get hit.
