Where/who would I go to get it tuned?

 

there are a few members out there that tune, I tune, but my plates are very full currently.

 

Ah. I mean, is there a shop that can do it?

I'd rather just get it done right the first time (Not saying you guys can't) and be good to go. When my CB was installed, I was told "you don't need to tune it, you'll be fine!"...yep, I'm totally good to go now...as long as everyone stays within line of sight and not past 100 feet.

the geezer at HRO told me to cut down my antenna about 4" to run the 151. freqs. he also specifically told me to score my antenna with a file then snap it with a pair of pliers and not just cut it with a pair of snips... any particular reason you know off the top of your head?

the 4" is to be close to the 1/4 wavelength electromagnetically of the used frequency, the scoring before cutting is to reduce the pinched wedge after you cut, however, Id use and use a dremel with a cutoff wheel for a clean cut. The pinch wedge can cause some tuning issues

Is there any way of checking if these are bad or good since they're used? Or is it just worth buying a new one?

 

I'll ask again since you have the issues, have you checked the plug wires?

(theres 3 if its the same as 1st gen with coil packs) I changed mine recently & a small miss i had went away (no codes thrown)
