That's a damn shame only 5000 miles on it and it gets raked! Engine would assumably be okay... Could always cut the tailgate and trim the bed to put a fab bumper on it. Some of the guys on this site do a great job at that and looks awesome! As for price...I don't think i'd pay more than 8-10 if I were parting it out, if I were buying with some big plans, then maybe 15 no more.

That's not too much visible damage to be totaled. I'd say the frame it tweaked pretty bad. That's really something to consider.

For that repair estimate there must be some major frame twist involved. I also suspect there are some drive-line issues. Salvage title will kill any resale efforts so keep that in mind too.

I just looked at the picks of the back closer. Notice the left rear wheel sits outside of the wheel-well by a good bit. When it got hit, it might have gotten punched into a curb, pushing the whole axle to the driver side.

But the repair cost on all the cars they are way to hight you really think its a good estimate? I think it's way off! Just look at other cars little fender bender and they are way over priced on the estimate

Just a bunch of old crap
That thing is going to need the frame replaced. That's why repair costs are $16k. Besides a new truck bed, if the axle and everything else is usable, bid $10k and buy a new frame, box, paint job, and pay a shop to fix it. If you have the liquid cash.

There's a reason the insurance company didn't want to pay to fix it...

BINGO! A 32K truck the insurance co is going to repair it for 16k (many insurance company's run their own repair shops like Allstate).

They paid out at least 25-28k to the claimant. They probably sold it off at auction for 5k or less so their net I'd guess out of pocket is 20K+.

If it would only take 2k to fix it like the OP thinks, someone in the chain would have snatched it long before it landed on this auction site. Looking at some of the vehicles on that site it reminds me of the "Land of Misfit Toys".

No more than what you could part it out for. If you seriously hope to fix it and drive it, you'll never be able to insure it.
