    They are self regulated. If one piston is compressed then the rest of the pressure is directed to the next piston. That's why there is one bleed nipple and not 4. If there is no air in the system then the pistons will compress with the same pressure.

    Ok thanks for the great info. Gonna give it another try tomorrow after work. So engine running . And go in order from passenger rear, driver rear, front pass, and the front driver side

    I believe his '04 Runner has an electric brake booster, so having the IGN On or the vehicle running would produce the same results.

    You can feel the difference in pressure if you press the brakes when the vehicle is off - it will be very stiff with each press, and eventually you can barely press it down. Now switch the Ign. ON, and you will feel the pressure release into the brake lines, and the pedal will depress further. You should feel the same thing when you start the engine. Each pedal pump will create more pressure in the lines until you release it by opening the bleeder valve.

    Try it either way and let us know how it goes :thumbsup:

    Yes, you want to start with the furthest wheel from the brake cylinder and work your way in.

    Can you send a picture of your brake cylinder from the engine bay?


    I didn't even notice he had a 4 runner. I thought it was a Tacoma.

    My wife & I took a drive up to Mowich Lake today and then drove through Evans Creek on 7930. Rounded a bend in the road and found this! I had no idea we were going to see the summit from there! It was so cool! I stayed off of the 'fun' trails because I don't have any trail armor yet; and we were by ourselves.

    Essentially fill master cylinder and reservoir with fluid. Then go through the same steps of opening bleeder beginning with rear passenger wheel. Takes a bit longer but can be done by yourself and is effective.

    haha youre correct. its an 04 4runner. i actually did drive it into portland today to go to work. im getting good stopping power (both rear brakes have new pads), and im guessing that the driver side rear is working since it seems like the electrical thing was my problem.

    ill try with the ignition on first. is it going to be bad or anything if the car is actually running? i also bought a small thing of brake fluid and a new set of cotter pins and that other tension spring thing for the front brakes

    ^^ this. I've seen what can happen to a very tight flare nut with a regular wrench. It's not pretty.

    ^^ haha. The dog did pretty good this time. She gets too hyper when in any vehicle. We're trying to train her to take it easy. The 6+ hours of driving around helped.
    We left the house at 12:30 and got home around 8pm.

    Probably see me before that for sure. Looks like the $$ will be there for good mods. Ill be up for all kinds of winter wheeling (my fav). Need new tires though. Thinking MTR's but out here I need something that can handle a lot of road miles and still be sticky. Looking at 305/70/r17's. I really like the BFG AT's but they are less aggressive than my BFG KM2's. open for suggestions as new tires are coming soon.

    Actually to correct the above post. I'm going to keep my 33" KM2's for the summer they are at 40%. Then get a larger winter set on 16"s soon that can handle the snow.

    So glad I don't have to sell the rig any more!
