I regretted it when I bought my Tundra. So when I bought the Tacoma I made sure to get it. Better to have it and not need it most of the time than to need and not have it at any time.

I wanted a double cab so I had no choice but to get a 4x4.

I regret having bought the 4x4...

Just kidding... But really, I think about whether I actually needed it. I don't really off road much, and use the truck as more of a daily driver. I can say that I have needed it a handful of times, and its allowed me to go places that I would otherwise not have.

I don't regret it one bit.

I bought mine to save on snow shoveling as the doc says stay away from shoveling or snow blowing.

I figured rather than be found under the snow bank in the spring, a 4x4 was the next best option. Getting through 16" of snow to get to work, and over the snowplow barricade on the way home in a 70' driveway was a piece of cake. Did it everyday until the snow melted, even with another 2" of fresh snowfall over the top. For that reason alone it is worth it.

As many times as it snowed that year at $100 a pop to have it plowed, I figured I saved at least $400 bucks that year.

I had a Silverado and now have the Tacoma, and doubt if I will ever go back to a 2 wheel. My wife's Rav4 is all wheel and she just followed my tracks in and out the drive. The only difference was that the Silverado could be put in full-time 4whl. as the Tacoma is part-time 4x4.

I do use it to go on the beaches on rare occasions that allow 4x4 to watch the wild horses which is an added plus as I don't have to wait for a 4 x4 rental.

Everybody has their reasons, but for me it was a reasonable option compared to the alternative.

I use 4x4 fairly often. Slippery boat ramps are a breeze (no spinning of tires and cussing), hunt camp roads are mud paths and 2x4 guys are always getting stuck, I own property way outside of town and the "improved" roads are generally not so improved.

Plus, it's fun to just go wheeling and see what she'll do.

I should have bought a 4x4. It's not "needed" for my daily life, but off roading and for peace of mind it would have been very nice. At the same time, my Prerunner can get me damn near anywhere I ever want or need to go.

I love my truck more than I probably should, but I wish I had 4x4 from the day I got it. It is a mistake I will never make again.

Not really as my twd Pre-Runner will run off and leave the 4x4 version AND
I have not encountered an instance where I needed 4wd to get around. Also, gas mileage is better with a 2wd and there is less maintenance.

Now if I lived in a place where I needed 4wd I would buy one.

I don't regret it at all, why buy or pay for something I don't need. If you don't off road or pull anything heavy than you don't need a 4x4 and is useless to have. Very impressed and very satisfied with TOYOTA in producing very reliable dependable truck. I love my Prerunner 4x2 and that's the way I want to keep it.

4X4 is the way to go in Canada even all the fleet trucks here have them.

    +1

+1 if I bought new. I got mine for a steal from a co-worker that had it less than a year, but couldn't fit his LB into his now apt. parking lot. Kinda wish it was a 4x4 or even the OR (with the locking diff), but the 2x/LSD has treated me great for 6 years..

    +1

I bought a PreRunner and every now and then, 4x4 sure would come in handy in some sandy areas in the back country. My next one will be 4x4. Maybe I will be retired by then and commute gas mileage won't matter so much.

I see you're in OKC, I'm from Mustang. I don't know how you think you don't need 4x4 in Oklahoma's ice storm winters....
