Center Console Plastic Button Broke Off?!

Hello all. My dog and I were driving in the city today, and as I got out of my truck (the center console was up), my dog closed it trying to get into the drivers side.

The center console button thingy broke off. So I no longer can close the center console. I looked at the mechanism, and just don't understand what I need to have it function again. A spring, gorilla glue, something?

Just imagine that tab you press to open the center console, is no longer attached to the top lid. It looks like the plastic somehow broke off from excessive pressure from my god dang St. Bernard!

First, I want to say that I paid $650 for my 7yr 75K Platinum warranty and have not used it once on my 2007 Tacoma (until now). I was just about to rig up my own latch fix when I thought it might be worth my while to check the local dealer for coverage. The excluded warranty items include fasteners, hinges, trim pannels but there was no latch listed. I took it in to AutoNation Tempe Toyota and had a service manager Tony check for me. He was very patient, called Toyota and was sent through 2 different phone agents before getting authorization. I checked the cost of the console since the latch is not sold separately ($350). Score! They would cover it (Key word is LATCH!). They had it installed in less than 40min and even gave me a wash all for $0. The point here is that if you haven't had any warranty charges and use the right terms you might just luck out like me.
