Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Add me Linwood. I need some other recovery gear as well so if it helps our cause I need a tree saver, snatch block and couple of extra d rings...should probably just buy a kit but I don't want the bag and gloves.

I'm interested, price dependent. The lowest price I found online was $111 which is pretty tough to swallow since I have a competitor's snatch block that I paid about $25 for. Amazon lists a few 16,000-20,000lb capacity units for $15-$40. They don't look as good as the ARB unit though...

I felt the same way. I have a rugged ridge one, and a buddy on here used the same one he had, and it broke the first time he used it  A snatch block is one of those things that you may never need, but it is by far the one thing that you want to have and work when you really need it. So although the competitors have them for much less, they may not work at all or only work a couple of times.:(

EDIT: also, Wheelers has them for $105 plus shipping. I am in hopes I can get the price below $100 shipped....as I have found out that cost on them is above $90

Guessing you're talking about the smittybuilt block? If so, i have that one as well already. it's actually a great unit. strong, handles synthetic line without damaging it, and the grease zerk on the pin is great. that being said, i've used the ARB one, and it's just a beautifully made piece of equipment. a lot more engineering and attention to detain was put into the ARB. sure $111 is steep, but if we can get it under $100 for a group buy, i'd say it's well worth it.

Yeah - I cheaped out for the smittybuilt block myself. There are two design methods for strength - either over-engineer, or keep adding material and over-do. I have confidence in the smittybuilt block, despite the china origin... :(

i wouldn't say cheap out. i did a lot of research and used as many blocks as i could before i bought the smitty. i liked it more than just about every other block, minus the ARB we're crossing our fingers for in the potential group buy. my second choice was the superwinch block, which is very similar to the smitty. there's some good stuff coming out of China, just have to know how to differentiate.
