Don't take it for granted or you will get bit. Shit happens fast, show the machine the respect it deserves and you will be fine

 

x2, metal lathes are not toys and they don't stop just because you scream 'ow'. They are arguably the most dangerous tool in a shop.

 

It's all fun and games till someone loses an eye, then it is just fun..

 

Show me what bolts you have? you need to drill out the hole near the spindle to 3/8th. You should have 3 sizes a 2", 2.5" and a 3" they all have a corresponding hole to go into. Either you have 2 of the same size bolts or your not putting them in the right place.

After seeing this i think I know your problem. All you have to do is switch the bolts the shorter one should be near the spindle and the longer on in the back. Drill out the hole to 3/8th and you should be golden no need to go to the hardware store.

 

Just got a chance to read this. I got six of the same length carrier bolts, so two are perfect, two are long, and two are too short. Not a big deal, just when you want to get them on.
