anything can be talked down. it's just a matter of knowing how to do it. keep in mind, mods don't add value and he is leaving the S/C and lift on if he parts it out.

 

Hello everyone! I've been on the forums for a little while now but never really posted much in here.

To the point I recently got enough time to start working on my truck again which is still having an overheating issue. This is the link to my original post.

Ok so since then I have ran with no thermostat for almost 2 months now on long trips the truck gets up to 130-150 Degrees which is fairly cold. Short trips it barely makes it to 110. With the thermostat out if you grab the bottom hose you can feel what i think are small air bubbles going through the hose occasionally.

I just put the thermostat back in yesterday and time after time the temp gauge continues to climb fast until i shut the truck off. I usually shut the truck off at 210. It has a OEM 180 thermostat that I tested not an hour before putting it in.

If you guys have any ideas that would be GREAT! Thanks!

 

Do you have a clog in the cooling system somewhere? Water pump issue?

 

Unless the clog is in the block no I have replaced everything new water pump, radiator, upper lower hose, radiator cap, clutch fan, and of course the thermostat. The only hose that I haven't replaced is the small one at the bottom that goes towards the rear of the engine.

These are fairly current pictures of the truck. Just a little history the previous owner did not take care of it very good but I got it fairly cheap so overall I'm still doing good.

 

My concern would be the air bubbles that you state you feel in the bottom hose. That COULD be an indication of a small head gasket issue. Not having a thermostat would help keep the temp down.

I checked the linked thread. I remember now posting in it before.

 

That's what I was thinking but I have done the leak down test where you check for gases in the antifreeze. I've done that test at least 5 times it always comes back good. If it were a small head leak would it not show up?

Could that small hose by the lower hose be an issue and possible be causing a small leak?

Bought a 2010 DCSB MGM TRD OR today. 53k miles. Guys at Serra Toyota were very nice. Would buy from them again.

Wish I could mod it in time for the offroading meet but I won't get any parts in on time.

congrats by the way. serra is pretty good on sales..... but just wait til its time to take it to them on service. they will make up for being good on sales.
